Luke, you can't have your cake in that way! The choice is relegation or the Cup, not doing badly in the Prem and winning some silverware.

Yep i'd take it.
1) FA Cup glory 2) At least one trip to Europe 3) Plenty of Championship away days i'd like to do. 4) Getting bored of the Premier League
You stay classy Stokies

Potterlog, I must have totally misread/misunderstood Luke's point then. My humble apologies to both you and him.
Actually lads, I've just read Luke's post again and I'm still confused.

I'd take it
FA Cup victory would be with us all for ever
1 season in Champ (I do believe we'd come straight back up) would probably enhance my life (cheaper tickets, new grounds) and would have very little impact in the LT
Even if it took 2 or 3 years to come back up, we'd all forget that in 3 or 4 years and would still have won the cup

Was thinking about this in more depth today and then i realised - if we got relegated we'd never come back.
Huth, Shawcross, Etherington, Pennant, Jones(He's shit but you know), Carew, Begovic, Sorenson - they'd all leave and we'd be left in the shit.
If we managed to keep our squad, I'd jump at the FA cup and going down - but going down this season could fuck us up massively so I've changed my mind ;D

Actually lads, I've just read Luke's post again and I'm still confused. ;D It is slightly confusingly phrased, but he says Obviously, we'd all take staying in the Prem and winning something, goes without saying, but the OP offered a choice. And knowing that our name would be engraved on that trophy forever, I'd sacrifice finishing 17th to 8th in the Prem each season.i.e. he would sacrifice the mundane reality of Prem status (finishing 17th to 8th) and accept relegation in exchange for a cup win and having our name on the trophy forever.

I would take the cup ..... I will always watch stoke, no matter what league we are in. We are quite simply the most boring team in the country. I get no enjoyment from watching us home or away anymore, its a chore. It didnt feel quite this bad in league 1 or the championship.
I have watched games from southampton, leeds and QPR this season as me and my housemates have taken it in turns to go to each others games and they all offered "entertainment"
I will try and wipe this season out of my memory in the next few years (hopefully with our status in tact)
However a cup would live with me til the day I die. I am so up for this game I can't wait!!!

What makes you think 'the most boring team in the country' have any chance of winning the cup?
