I doubt we'll see it for quite some time, as for me and how I view homosexual people? It doesn't bother one bit and why should it, a person shouldn't be judged for who they find attractive. I don't know why it bothers some people, if they think that homosexual people fancy every single person they set eyes on and are scared they may come on to them then that's just damn stupid. That's the thing I always find funny. Do straight men find every woman attractive? God no! So why would that be so for gay men?

Its all very well asking our opinions ( the fans ) view of having a gay footballer within our ranks. But how would it go down in the dressing room ? Surrounded by plenty of blokes ( some good looking, some not quite so good looking ) who are taking showers and are at most of the time naked/semi naked within the dressing room. If there was a gay player, he could not help but be 'turned on' by this, it would be natural for him, stick me in a room full of half naked/naked women i'd be highly delighted ! Now i have no prejudice agaisnt gays, i just know showering and being naked around one of them would make me on uncomfortable......and whether its right or wrong, if we had an openly gay player at our club, it could be potentially detrimental to us attracting other players......or on this flip side it could attract more players Either way, I just don't see what good it does to openly come out in the media and tell the world your sexual preference, do heterosexual sportsman come out and tell the world they're straight ? No....I see no point other than to cause a stir or gather media interest. Tricky issue for those involved. Statistically, isn't one in five people supposedly homosexual? Being gay and a top sportsman must be tough - but some manage it: www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/may/04/gareth-thomas-gay-interview-crusaders , although Thomas did leave it until the twilight of his career to open up. This is what really bothers me - why should anybody have to 'open up' or 'come out'? It's nobody's business, if we had a gay player then it's what he does on the pitch that counts not where he sticks his old fella. It's daft that anybody would feel pressured by society to publicly declare their sexual orientation when it has nothing to do with their profession.

Of course nobody should have to come out. I was just wondering how the response would be if a player did. Footballers don't seem to be the most enlightened people. The response on here seems quite positive though.

It would all depend on how good he was. So if he was good at rimming but not so great at oral it'd bother you?

Aawwhh... your pathetic bigotry is so darn cute. What? No more 'insults'? No more calling me a gay? or a puffter? or anything even slightly more inventive? I mean the fact that i'm not gay doesn't matter, your 'insults' (they're really not very insulting) still cut me to the bone, I don't know how I'll be able to carry on living.

I don't think most people care. However, some of these same people would use his gayness to abuse him if he started missing sitters or couldn't string a 2 yard pass together on a consistent basis...and I would have no problem with this. If you profess to be a profesional footballer then verbal abuse goes with the territory. A ribald dig at his sexual orientation, nationality, colour, race etc. is ok at a footy match if you feel the need to verbally abuse a player. However, I do not think this kind of abuse (or any abuse) is acceptable if you were to meet the same player in public. Does this make me a hypocrite? thats my only problem with that paragraph , i dont agree with racism anywhere

I wouldnt mind. He cant help it if he is gay. However, if he walked round with tight leather trousers and all the camp clothing, then he would undoubtadly need a slap. I'd prefer to give the cap, trainers and tracksuit bottoms wearing numpties a baseball batting. Fooking hell, I've just described Pulis! ;D ;D
