i hope tp isn't thinking of playing whelan in place of whitehead, this youth must wake up and think it's christmas every day, to play premier league football and be a current international when he is the most talentless, bone player we have signed. for christ sake tone, think about wilson or tuncay to do that job as a one off, who knows we might beat united, and knock it abite a bit at the same time. I hope it is Whelan as he is our best midfield player. As long as he is told to stick close to Scholes and don't let him play the ball all over the pitch we will be ok. Please not Salif, our best midfield partnership is Whelan and Delap, Wilson may be good but not shown it yet. As long as we don't sit back off there midfield and give them too much space like we did last season then we should give them a good game. Let's attack them for a change.

after all the chasing of wilson, then giving pompey 2 cracking players its a sad state of affairs to be in that we will probably play diao!!! TWO cracking players? Really? I'd take diao for 60 mins then bring on gudjohnsen in an attacking midfield role

It'll be Salif until the 65th minute, then Whelan will come on for the last 25. I just hope we have Pennant on for the full 90 this week - and if Fuller is in a fit state to do 30 minutes, it isn't him who's asked to make way.

There's a big difference between Diao containing the likes of the Newcastle midfield and the the players who will turn out for the Shit tomorrow.
Their mobility is excellent and if we are not careful we will get overrun in midfield.
I fully expect Diao to start but I would personally go with Whelan (despite never being fully convinced by Glenn.)

Who ever he plays lets just hope they are not told to just sit on the toes of our back 4 and let Man U camp in our own half and wait for them to just score and win the game at some point.
It just kills the atomosphere in 5mins, boring, piss!s you off listening to Mancs singing 'this is so F!cking easy' no wonder we have 500 tcks left unsold.
Lefts hope we just give it a go

Salif isn't the worry for me.
I'm more concerned that Glenn and Salif will start in the middle with Rory on the right.

Pulis always picks Diao against the big guns when he can. Those are always the games where we surrender the midfield and see even less of the ball than usual.
