Never judge a team on their first game...including England (but not France). ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

I hope James is back in. I will be very worried if Carragher starts though.

Dos Santos is a very good player, but I can't help but think he would be a clone of Tuncay in our side. On paper I would love to see him join, but really can't see it working.

Yeah, I knew what you were referring to. He was a tremendous talent- just a shame that he went down the wrong path.
That said, it's great to see his passion on the touchline.
Who could forget this?....

They made the final in 1990. Think they were knocked out in Round 2 of '94, after Maradona was kicked out after failing a drugs test.

Must admit, his celebration against Greece in '94 is a memory that will always stay with me. Probably for the wrong reasons, but I thought it was class!

Should be a decent last day in that group. Nigeria v South Korea has everything riding on it, but I'm pretty sure we'll be glued to the Argentina match.

Enyema continues to impress. He's a very good keeper.

Nigeria grew in confidence against Argentina, and hopefully they can take it into this game. I fancy a tight 1-0 win for them.

I fancy Argentina to win the thing. I still stand by this statement.

What an amazing goal that would have been by Messi.
Game on now though!

I fancy Argentina to win the thing. After the turmoil of the qualifiers, nonody has really tipped them and they looked pretty good against Nigeria (particularly in attack). If they can start hitting the back of the net then they will be tough to stop.

As Knowlesy put on the other thread, the Spurs game falls nicely for us, sandwiched in between 2 midweek Champs League qualifiers for them, which'll be a distraction Yeah, that's the best bit of news for me- especially if Spurs lose the first leg by the odd goal.

It could have been MUCH worse. I was fearing the US. The problem is that the English media whip up this frenzy surrounding the World Cup and the whole nation expects us to breeze past all sides.
As they say, there aren't any easy international games these days. Just ask Brazil and Spain.

It would have been harsh, but if (hypothetical, I know) the Swiss were denied a goal because of it, I think Webb would have had to have given the penalty and a red. Hey ho, who cares? Switzerland 1-0 Spain. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

I couldn't believe the pessimism after our draw against the USA. We were the better side and if we can't beat Algeria and Slovenia then we don't deserve to progress. It was a solid result.
I was only watching the Spain game online, but am I right in thinking Pique handled the ball just before the goal? It could have been even worse for them, as it would have been a certain red card!!
