Sadly our stock has fallen dramatically and with a struggling inexperienced manager we would definitely be third on that list. Good job we have a Plan B......onto Connor Wickham then!

they will fuck up big time again Bielsa is a seriously top grade manager. Maybe only Guadiola and Klopp better in English football. He will know what went wrong last season and fix it. The only hope is someone at Leeds pisses him off and he leaves.

Watching this 2-0 Leeds and cruising. Put some money on Leeds finishing top easy money. The only positive is that Bristol C look garbage and I thought they would be play offs. Maybe it's just Leeds who are making them look shite? When do we play Leeds?...Oh shit 3 weeks time

Tony needs to go off on a jolly, sorry fact finding mission, over here to the USA to get a feel how the matchday experience is handled in just about every spectator sport. I am not for a minute suggesting we match such high quality it takes time. But even though fixed ticket prices and free away travel is to be hugely applauded, the matchday experience remains bizarrely in a time warp, hardly evolved in over 20 yrs. Wake up Scholes these are your paying customers!

yesterday was a real shock. Not just because we lost to a team that will be struggling in the lower half of the league but the performance. After half a season, almost a full transfer window and a pre-season of coaching and drilling his players, yesterday was truly groundhog day. You could have cut and pasted a number of last seasons poor performances and placed it at the Bet 365 yesterday. How can simply NOTHING have improved? Jones is an inexperienced manager and has shown to be quite naive at times with subs and tactics, but I think he is a quick learner and maybe he can grow into being a capable manager at this level. He sees one of his strengths as being self belief in his methods and philosophy, it's an admirable quality. However experience will gradually tell him that flexibility and acceptance that maybe not everything he believes is right and it's how you react to that and change that defines you. He has some seemingly dogmatic views...the diamond system, no loanees, no overseas players. He needs to accept if he hasn't got the players for his system he simply has to change. Also loanees and overseas players if astutely recruited are part of the make up of a successful side at this level. Both Leeds and Fulham this season and Derby last season have made smart loan moves, why not Nathan please explain? We have to stick with him lets face it the Coates's track record of appointing managers has been pretty poor, there is no evidence with John Coates (who recruited Lambert and Rowett!) that they will get a replacement right.

I think the only person on this earth who thinks JM ( not even himself i bet) can be a high octane LWB is Nathan Jones. The baggies fans will be laughing their bollox off at the thought and they have seen more of him than us. We have watched him for a season and we know his limitations. It is truly incredulous that Jones thinks otherwise. Let see if Jones has the intelligence and the humility to admit he got this wrong

Welcome to the MLS little maestro, sadly have to probably wait to see him up close as the Impact have already visited Atlanta. MLS is a good move for him and Montreal are decent, shame he didn't come to Georgia

First real chance to have a look at him and I have to concur with most on here and say he is the real deal and a very exciting prospect a genuine class act. Let's hope Jones manages him correctly.

3 he at least made some decent subs and we improved. OK only the first game but it's hugely worrying that even after a pre season and his transfer window the performance was reminiscent of many under his stewardship last season.

Wants fucking slating for that first goal. What was he doing. I think he looked over and saw it was an isolated JM and panicked. Understandable with JMs reputation for defending.

A disgrace to the name! Seriously in a diamond it's one of the most important positions. People think he was ok because he didn't do much wrong. picking up the ball and making a 3/4 metre pass to a team was all he did. His job is to put us on the front foot (Collins did this job for him most of the game) with some astute clever passing and balls over the top to the wide men. He did absolutely non of that. He looks what he is a below average player at this level that QPR didn't want. Strange signing based merely on Jones's view from a few years ago. Did we follow the process on this position, you know scout the whole of UK and europe for the best 5 players for the roll?.....did we fuck!

So...7 players bought in the summer, only 3 make the team. Biggest surprise; Davies, who was expected to replace Butland if he'd been sold, doesn't even make the bench. Biggest problem: No Ward on the bench to come on after 7 minutes, when McClean gets his second yellow after two poor tackles and is sent off. Biggest joy: Powell to be our guiding light. And Collins to stay in the team for something close to forever. Prediction: 1-0. yes a right back we dont need an average, at best cdm and thank christ Powell....hardly a revolution

There really hasn't been the Jones revolution in terms of new players. We will line up today with many of the players that under performed last season and with the same combo up front of Afobe and Vokes who fired so many duds. The defence is about the same having lost Ryan and adding Smith and Lindsay. As for creativity, so much relies on Powell and that's a worry. Etebo and Allen's assist and goal stats last season were awful. Will it be any better in the much fabled diamond? Well the key components are Cousins Smith McClean Etebo Allen and Poweell. Not sure they are all great picks for such key positions. I am expecting a slight improvement on last season, it's hard to see us drawing so many games again, so maybe 10th. If we ditch the diamond and play a system better suited to the better players we have then maybe a tilt at the final play off places. As for the teams for promotion... Leeds have the best manager by some distance and good players and wont screw up this time Fulham have the best players, many who impressed in this league 2 seasons ago. Cardiff WBA Derby Brentford for the playoffs Interesting that both Leeds and Fulham have used the loan market very astutely. It's an important part of recruitment at this level and Jones seems to bizarrely be against it.

QPR look like one of the weakest teams in the Champs and will be hovering around the relegation places. I know it's only the first game but it will be a bit worrying if we don't win this one. A draw and languid performance will be a continuation of last season.

Let's give him 4/5 games before we judge him. No doubt if he isn't Roberto Carlos on Saturday the board will be filled with people calling for NJ's head over this. If JM is m.o.m they wont acknowledge it based on what evidence? This theory certainly wasn't tested last season.

Just about any opposing managers will take a few seconds to assess where our defensive weakness will be and that's down our left flank, we saw that against Leicester. If we play 3 at the back I have sympathy for the left sided CB, probably Lindsay who will need to be on his game. McClean should be praying that old man Rangel isn't playing tomorrow after JM forgot he was playing against us last season at the Brit where he scored 2 of the 3 goals he has scored in 6 years of football.

Stoke won't pay Newcastle's asking price -few days- Stoke "go after" other options -few days- Stoke get Gayle for better price 👍🏼 I don't think Wickham is even a good poker face for this deal is he? If you're interested in Dwight Gayle, your plan b isn't Connor Wickham unless you're absolutely puddled or desperate. I think Newcastle will conclude that we're desperate and the price for Gayle goes up not down! Ha ha Indeed Sheikhy. If Wickham was a holdem poker hand it would definitely be a 2-7 (offsuit). No doubt Scholesy would go 'all in' with that hand

But do we have a great team? You can say as much positive as you wish but it doesn't mean that others aren't allowed to question it. Correct, however the constant negativity is poisonous... maybe let them kick a ball in anger before completely writing them off? It's ridiculous. We'd sign Messi and you lot would probably find someway to moan. I'm glad my life isn't shrouded in a cloud of negativity like some of you lot seem to be stuck in. Can you not be negative about the team you support if they have been in decline, while viewing the rest of your life positively? I certainly can and do.

If we can't beat QPR at home then we might as well pack up. They are a poor side and have lost their 'star man' to us they will be fighting at the wrong end this season. It would be hugely disappointing not to beat them even though we couldn't manage it last season. Mind you a 36 year old fullback scored twice against us, so hope for Stephen Ward yet but maybe not good news for our super new LWB JM. Neither side really know how to win so I am expecting a draw

Apparently not one they fancy And those you quoted are precisely the mistakes that they are not making now by giving short term contracts And you accept that? You don't think it screams that there's an issue somewhere? Either with who they have put up or with the manager? I don't know which one it is and history suggests it's the former. But we also know that NJ like what he knows and doesn't fish in a big pond seemingly. I find it hard to accept that after knowing we needed a left from his arrival, we can't find one in world football that fits the bill. I am quite staggered that some posters are putting out the mantra of in Jones we trust with regard to the LWB shambles. It's been obvious We have needed better LWB options for 2/3 seasons and with Jnes's formation it's clearly a key and high profile position. We have presumably still a scouting network, you know the one that found Etebo in Portugal. We have a process that I think states we find 5 options for each position targeted, if we don't get choice A we move on to choice B etc. So how we end up with an ageing premiership player after a final payday (we have only given him a one year contract so we recognise that) and JM who we have all have seen enough of to know he defensive qualities are at best a joke. WBA fans told us that when we bought him and I have seen nothing to change that view, he loses his man and makes rash badly timed tackles. It's a touch odd NJ ditched Pieters who NJ didn't rate but who clearly is a better defender than McClean and actually scored 2 in 21 as a full-back compared to McClean's 3 in 42 as an attacking forward!! Something has gone wrong in this recruitment either the process wasn't carried out with finding 5 potential options. If thats the case then the recruitment team remains unfit for purpose. Or is it Jones's insistence that we fish in the 'not wanted ageing prem player, lower championship/League one pool' and this has not delivered. Either way it really is a shambles when Jones has to turn water into wine with JM. It's no wonder Jones last night sounded a touch spiky and stressed rather than his normal super positive persona.

So much for Jones's revolution. The starting line-up wasn't much different to last season's team. A new right back we probably didn't need a cdm on a freeby because Jones knows him Powell as creator general and a bizarre choice for lwb. People wonder why it looks the same as last season that's because it is no creativity from the flanks or midfield and the same players up front who played in so many 0-0 games. I suppose the 0nly blessing is that the manager has spent feck all.

I've said it many times that we need some fresh blood and vision brought in at the top of the structure of the club. It should have been done when we were riding high in the Premier League. We didn't instead chose one of John Coates mates and beer waiter. With Jones appointment we lack any real knowledge or major contacts overseas.Jones's recruitment so far has endorsed that view. Not sure there is any rush to appoint and we should cast the net far and wide to get the very best Tech Director possible. As I said before please don't let the manager decide or make a lazy buddy appointment. We have the money to pay for the best, for me ideally from the Bundesliga.

This is great news and provides the club with a huge opportunity to bring in serious expertise and knowledge particularly of the European market. Coates has an aversion to foreign managers let's hope it doesn't spread to this position. And for christ sake don't let the manager make the appointment or appoint a buddy appointment like Carto was.

The existing striker options of Afobe Volkes Gregory and Campbell are not good enough to get close to the number of goals that are needed to be in the promotion shake up. Afobe...we have seen enough of him to come to the conclusion that he is 10 goals max at this level. Volkes...Has hit great totals a few years ago for Burnley at this level. He is now a few years older and it's no guarantee he would hit 15 although he is the best bet to get that total. Gregory...has been pretty much invisible pre season. He is a lower champ striker who will struggle to hit 10 goals. Campbell... No doubt he is our most natural goal scorer and adds pace to a rather leaden legged forward line. But he is young and inconsistency and sorry...durability effects young players. It would be a huge risk to depend on him week in week out. So if we have even a shred of ambition to be in the promotion shake up we need more goals in the side and as such if Gayle is available, which it seems he is, we have to bring him in. Whats wrong with 5 strikers competing for the match squad. As long as Jones recognises that Campbell is probably the best goal threat albeit of the bench then fine. Otherwise sideline Afobe or Gregory. Gregory could be loaned back to Millwall or to his beloved Sheff Weds. Time to be ruthless
