Because it’s how you pronounce it? Like Nunyez is how you pronounce that? Piss off Bayern, just let me have my rant ffs 3-0 Jotta, which definitely won't be how they pronounce it in Portugal The funny one about Portuguese is that the R is pronounced as a rasping H sound, something like the Spanish J in José. So Ronaldo and Ronaldinho and Romario etc are all Hhhonaldo, Hhonaldinho. The J is a soft J, like zzhhh, which is totally different from Spanish. Confusing..

It looks bad because it was three close calls that all went Madrid’s way but they also had a goal VARed and a reasonable penalty shout declined. Only the penalty handball was debatable for the push in the back.

I genuinely couldn’t remember the last time I saw us win a game. Turns out it was September v Watford 🤷♂️🤦♂️ If it makes you feel any better, for me it was 2013 😂

Trying to think about the history I think it’d have to be Matthews, Banks, Waddo and Shawcross. I took “your” to mean personal, as in a subjective during your time thing. If it’s an all-time icons thing it might be hard to argue Ryan over Skeels, Ritchie or Denis.. even Soo or Franklyn.. but then they’re all from 50+ years ago ☹️

I still worry about us in the longer term but Schumacher’s Stoke would have to be cataclysmically bad - worse than almost everything we’ve seen in the last six years in this wretched division - for us to go down this season. We have plenty enough to avoid that, our aversion to goalscoring notwithstanding.
We’re fine, even if we contrive to lose the next two.

Didn’t work at all and I noticed Burger having a go on more than one occasion Hate saying this as they're only nippers and is it really worth moaning about but our ball boys don't seem very good. Transfer window’s still open…. maybe we can get that one from Spurs who helped them score under Mourinho

Everyone involved at the club, including Bonham himself, knows he’s our #2 goalkeeper. That’s what he was signed as and that’s what he will remain - if something happens to Iverson then we’ll sign another #1 who will go straight into the team. He’s already played way more games than he ever would have expected to. Fight for the shirt indeed Hilarious! I guess you don't list 'motivation' among your soft skills? Actually I was wrong - he signed as third choice behind Bursik and Davies, not second. An emergency option basically. I’m sure he’ll be delighted to have found himself starting so much but he’s not stupid, he knows he’s not going to be in contention permanently just because he’s covered somewhat capably (debatable). And if he does find himself starting again this season he’ll know that a new #1 will be our first priority in the summer. Be realistic

All I will say is that Bonham should consider himself very much in the picture to fight for the jersey. I don't have a scooby as to why he lost the shirt in the first place. I made the point iversen should fight for the shirt ahead of his first game and DaveF helpfully told me I should shut-up and suck it up. I guess that's what we are now doing. Everyone involved at the club, including Bonham himself, knows he’s our #2 goalkeeper. That’s what he was signed as and that’s what he will remain - if something happens to Iverson then we’ll sign another #1 who will go straight into the team. Great positioning for that free kick..NOT ..Why leave a big gap that you cannot get to ? And people moan about Bonham. .. 🤬🤬 Watch it on TV then reply.. I said immediately on here that he was at fault for the free kick. A decent keeper saves that every day of the week. As a keeper myself I'd be disappointed to let that in. You knew as he was approaching the ball exactly where the ball was going. Piss poor. Soz Lev Yashin 😅 FFS it was an inch-perfect free kick. Whipped at pace, curling away from the keeper, right into top bins. He couldn’t have placed it more accurately if he’d put it there with his hand. But apparently that’s just a routine save now because people are all dirty guts about their pet klutz Bonham being on the bench

It was a reckless challenge and a red card. It happens, no bad intent but in his commitment to get to the ball first he went in with excessive force - Bendtner's tug definitely worsened the situation but it can't be used as an excuse.
I think the immediate angry reaction of some of the Arse lot was, in the context of having had two other recent high-profile leg-breaks, understandable. Misguided maybe but understandable in the heat and emotion of the moment. That includes the on-pitch reaction and some of the immediate interviews.
What was absolutely unforgiveable was the prolonged demonisation of Ryan - at the end of the day a young lad who was visibly devastated by what had happened - by Wenger and some high-profile Arsenal fans, making out that he was some sort of vicious animal who'd been hyped up to go out and hurt them. Load of bullcrap which doesn't reflect well on them.
My first ever interaction with a "celeb" on Twitter was over this, a spat with Dara O'Briain, who wrote a characteristically pompous piece about the "sanctimony" of defending Shawcross' character when he'd just broken someone's leg - O'Briain admitted in the course of our conversation that he hadn't even seen the incident.

I don't think there's a single one of our recent, mainly disastrous, managers who hasn't come across positively in early interviews. With Rowett it was no-nonsense, grafts, knows how to get results and doesn't pull any punches. Jones was infectious enthusiasm, effort and self-belief. MON was the adult in the room, talking calmly and plainly, identifying problems and dealing with them and not getting carried away, and Neil was a serious, astute tactician who wouldn't suffer fools. One thing I slightly worry about with Schuey is how nice he seems to be. Someone else mentioned him "putting an arm around" players, which is great, but he's not had much experience of battling through hard times when stress levels are up and the stakes are high. I can't really see him dishing out bollockings. But hopefully he won't need to. Are you sure bollocking is the right medicine these days? I'm not, but really believe man to man management can work miracles. Not at all sure, no. But, for instance, I think being too mild and forgiving with the players certainly contributed to Les and MON's downfalls in the end. Then again the opposite was probably true in other cases so it's all fairly academic I guess

I saw that game and the incident on telly. I replayed it at least a dozen times and could not see any intent by Shawcross to hurt or injure Ramsey. I didn't see reckless play and certainly not violent play. Seemed more a matter of an unfortunate outcome for a contested ball between too very fit young men. In all honesty, I didn't see an obvious red card (but not for me to judge). And thought that it was good to get Shawcross off the pitch. The injury was horrific and Shawcross was gutted that he had inflicted it, showing his decency. Horrible situation for both players. I didn't like Arsene Wenger's reaction to the incident then or later. I was very happy to see Ramsey's recovery and return to fitness. There was a picture on here I think a few years ago which was a freeze frame of where Shawcross and Ramsey were in the split seconds and it was proven Ramsey jumped in on Shawcross. Weirdly with VAR I think Ramsey would have been sent off for a dirty uncontrolled tackle. His leg break was his fault. come on now

Schumacher does speak really well currently but he's under zero pressure. Wait until he is under pressure at some point. If he continues to be as honest and straightforward when he's under a degree of pressure, then we'll know we've got a good un. If he buckles and starts talking bollocks, he'll go the same way as the other charlatans we've had in recent years. Early signs are great. Long may it continue. I don't think there's a single one of our recent, mainly disastrous, managers who hasn't come across positively in early interviews. With Rowett it was no-nonsense, grafts, knows how to get results and doesn't pull any punches. Jones was infectious enthusiasm, effort and self-belief. Netherlands is a country comprised of 12(?) provinces. North and South Holland are two of those provinces. Amsterdam is in North Holland. 👍 Just read up on it a bit. Seems like even they called it Holland previously but they don’t like that much any more but it was always really the Netherlands. So not the same as Ceylon/Sri Lanka. It’s somewhat similar to how most people in the world refer to our nation as “England” rather than UK, although probably only the jocks and Welshies care much about that (I’m half Scottish and I half care). I know a few Dutch people and they’re all quite disdainful of the use of “Holland”

This all seems a little premature tbh, but anyway Too young to know Hudson But if he’s even remotely close to N’Zonzi then we’re blessed, and he won’t be here for long Legitimately the best player in a stoke shirt many fans will have seen without knowing it. I reckon any fans for whom Burger is the best player they've ever seen in a Stoke shirt would have to be under the age of 10. No chance, my lad is under the age of ten and according to him the best player Stoke have ever had is Ki-Jana Hoever

“In January 1955, Stoke City played five consecutive games against Bury, all in the FA Cup third round,” writes Neil Stacey. “To add to the story, the third, fourth and fifth meetings were at prestigious neutral venues: Goodison Park, Anfield and Old Trafford, respectively.”
The matches were all played between 8 and 24 January. The last four went to extra-time – the first replay was abandoned after 112 minutes because of a snowstorm – before Stoke’s “Tim” Coleman finally settled matters with the winning goal in a 3-2 victory. Overall the tie lasted nine hours, 22 minutes and produced 19 goals.
“In an added twist,” adds Neil, “the clubs had met in consecutive league games over Christmas. Overall, Stoke faced Bury seven times in eight games and Bury played Stoke seven times in nine!” All seven were played within a calendar month: 25 December 1954 to 24 January 1955. If anyone can beat that, we’ll be pleasantly surprised.
The old days were fucking mad weren’t they
