The European Union voting is coming up here in Sweden first week of June and normally 45% don't vote. But I will and always do. However. Q: is it any point voting on a very small political party, which won't get enough votes to be a part of any decisions in the end? Is it always a wasted vote? I have no idea what to vote for, but have seen we have more than 100 political parties we can choose from this time. It's weird. What would you say is the main reason to vote on a too small party without any influence? 🤠 I'm not sure I understand your dilemma as Sweden uses the Apparentment Voting System a type of Proportional Representation but with Party Lists Sweden also has the 4% Rule to gain some level of representation, surely support below that level doesn't deserve representation. Ok. Clarification: this thread is NOT about our Swedish National Election, where we choose our representatives on city, region and national level. In our national level voting the party must get 4% to be a part of our Riksdagen (the Parliament). And hopefully the political party you pick will be part of the government. This thread is about the Swedish election for the European Union. What swedes who will represent us there in Brussels. And I don't know how many relative votes they need to represent us. I counted the political parties to choose from and they were the eight political parties we also have in the Riksdagen (Parliament): S - Social Democrats V - The Left Party (Communists) MP - The Green Party C - The Center Party (Liberals) M - The Moderats (Conservatives) L - The Liberals SD - The Sweden Democrats KD - The Christ Democrats but also 112 other political parties (!!!). Some examples: The Basic Income Party (Basinkomstpartiet) Common Sense in Sweden The Least Bad Party (Det minst dåliga partiet) Free Choice (Fritt Val) Nationalsocialistic Reform Party (Nationalsocialistiska Reformpartiet) That's enough, damn it! (Nu får det fan vara nog!) Ok Evil Chicken Party (Ond kycklingpartiet) Political Shift (Politiskt skifte) Resource Democracy (Resurs demokrati) Social Libertarians (Sociallibertarianerna) The Suns Freedom Party (Solens Frihetsparti) Symparty (Sympartiet) The Smart Soul Out (Ut) Willy Tiger Yggdrasil What I do now is looking for these 112 parties websites. Is it any meaning voting for an odd political party?

Loud music from cars, so loud you can't talk to your mate 100 meters away. Maybe you should tell him to stand a bit closer? 😉 Aiming error I admit 👍

What would you say is the main reason to vote on a too small party without any influence? 🤠 Some people vote on principle - so for example the Green Party get votes because of their stance on green matters even if they ate unlikely to get much actual influence in government. At least the EU vote uses proportional representation so smaller parties do get some say. In the UK all votes are now first past the post which locks us into a two party system - about a third of our electorate don't get a voice. Thanks!👍 I was also thinking about the real small political parties here, the ones who don't even have a website. I saw some party who got 1 vote last time in the population. Maybe it was the inventor who voted ...

He can't see it's discriminating? Wait, are you saying I need to shave before going out in a dress so as not to offend!? My mother used to say that if a man dressed up as a woman it was ridiculing the woman, mocking and very discriminating to portray the woman as ugly as possible. As bad as making fun of someone with down syndrome or cerebral palsy with grimaces.

Conchita Wurst is not a real person, she is an character played by a drag artist Thomas Neuwirth. Think Lily Savage/Paul O'Grady. It didn’t even occur to me that he is a drag act! In which case, he is very much a he, and not a they or a she, but the character he plays is a she. Why does it have a beard?

I just read he got a new one actually. It also said he was the first non binary person to win it. I don't get that. What was Conchita Wurst if not non binary? I am no expert, but I think she defines herself as a woman. Whereas Nemo is a “they” rather than “he” or “she”. They does not have a traditional gender and so is non-binary. I get myself in a right muddle with plurals (should I have said “they do” or “they does”?) when I start using the pronoun “they”, as you can see! I see, he, Conchita Wurst that is, sees himself as a woman. In English you use "they", ahaa ... I think it's does, but am not sure. In Swedish we use Han (he), Hon (she) and Hen (hen). All in singular.

On another, but kind of similar subject ... Have you thought about why you can't say handicap or disability any longer? Everything is a function variation, and kind of "normal". To me that's discrimination, like reducing the disability to be insignificant. If I were in such a situation I would have been very sad. It's a trait of the modern progressive. They love to elevate some words to make things sound worse than they are. A few examples Genocide in Gaza. There are victims of war or military action but no Genocide. Misogyny. Used when someone says something chauvinistic to elevate the effectiveness of the argument. Of course if a woman makes similar comments they are never labelled misandrist. Gender. Although an old word its used to replace the word "sex" because if some clown stated they were sex neutral they would make themselves look a complete bulb. So they use this to try and divert from the actual wording. Baby Mother. What the fuck else would you be a mother of. Of course their are a few variables such as God Mother, Grand Mother and Step Mother etc but if the kid is yours you are the mother. Birth Mother, see above You see how it works. Interesting. In Sweden they actually have taken it one step further when it comes to "sex", and they speak of 8 different types of sexes. Even more confusing. I haven't heard Baby mother here. Is it to separate it from surrogate mother? Disabled and disability is a big no-no here. Everything is a function variation and therefore seen as normal.
