Bloody Hell, we haven't missed him at all have we to be fair.
He was a fantastic player for us but I think the Cort and Shawcross partnership is a lot stronger than the Duberry and Higgy one!

I wonder what Higgy is thinking now - from hero to zero.
I bet he wishes he'd stayed now.
He was loved at Stoke but is now just another centre half in a biggish squad who will probably be sold on in six months as Keane keeps spending.

Personally, I'd rather have Higgy than Cort. Higgy's gets goals just like him and he's a leader. It's no coincidence that one of the few clean sheets kept this season came when Higgy was partnered with Shawcross.

There are no vocals in the back line, we need somebody to tell the others what to do and maybe then we wouldn't concede as many in the 6 yards box. That'll cost us one day...

My work office is in Durham and three of my colleagues are Sunderland fans and regularly ask if we would like to have him back. They dont rate him too highly up there. A litlle unfair maybe when the rest of the team are performing poorly.

This years centre half partnership is better than last years, but best of all, would be Higgy and Shawcross How do you come to that conclusion? last year we went 10 games on the run with a clean sheet and had one of the tightest defences in the whole football league. This year there havent been many of those. Higgy is far better than Cort, Shawcross is probably better than dubes though.

The only thing Cort's got over Higgy is goals.
I think Higginbotham is a much superior player, and much more vocal as kind of the leader of the defensive unit. We seem more fragile defensively without him.
Cort's not bad, and his goals could prove priceless when you place the kind of stock on set-piece goals that we do.

I'd have Higgy over Cort everyday. He's what we need - a big mouth and prresence at the back. Not that Cort's bad you understand, it's just that I think Higgy and Shawcross would be awesome

The Higster for me.
Wish we still had him for the confidence factor at the back. Cort obviously has the edge on set pieces.
Wish we had them both tbh but Higgy's money has been very well spent indeed.

It's hard to separate cort and higgy.think out of the two higgy is slightly better as a player regarding tackling and leadership but cort is a belting replacement who could well score us the goals to send us up!!.

I'd have higgy bak as well thats a given, however my original point was that we haven't missed him at all to be honest. True we haven't kept as many clean sheets but we have a more attacking style of play now where the game isn't to concede less than the opposition but to score more!
Cort and Shawcross have both come in and have formed a good partnership, of course having Higgy in would be great but considering how we felt about losing Higgy in August and how we'd struggle, I would suggest that those feelings have been refuted by how well we've done!

I just don't understand this opinion that he's wasting away at Sunderland really. Fair enough they are having a hard time, but they look like they're going to stay up to me. Higgy himself was playing every match until he got his foot broken over the holidays. If he has gone there and they stay up then it's been a good season for him. I would call him a twat if he'd gone to sit on the bench but he made himself a first choice prem centre half ffs.
The 4 players we have replaced him with will do nicely thank you.
