well actually its my girlfriend, who is doing a parachute jump for a charity very close to my heart (Parkinson's Disease Society). It is becoming an even more common disease, the most famous people who have the disease being Mohammed Ali and Micheal J Fox. My Father was diagnosed with Parkinson's just over 10 years ago. If you do not anything about it then its a very upsetting disease that takes over your body. The main side effect is visible shaking, but it always effects your thinking, speaking and your balance. My Father is a huge Stoke fan and was it him that first took me to my first Stoke game. He loves to go to the games but the stress of some games does cause him to shake more!! He tries to lead a normal live by playing Golf and Tennis but the tablets he takes do make him very tired. The link to sponsor my girlfriend who is doing the jump this weekend is below. Any donations is a massive help to such a good cause who are trying to find ways to combat the disease. Many thanks Padders www.justgiving.com/stephanieraper

I suspect that this is another charity begins at home scam.
If your girlfriend wants to do a parachute jump, can i suggest she pays for it herself and then gets some sponsorship instead of getting us to sponser her jump and give a bit of money to the charity after her jumps been paid for!
I hate these things.

Wembley read the page - all goes to the named charity bar an admin fee to Justgiving.com Made a donation & good luck! Cause dear to my heart as my dad was diagnosed just under two years ago and if it wasn't for him taking me to the old Victoria Ground I wouldn't support such a great team

And how do you want me to do that?
If you read the information on the website, all money donated online goes straight to the charity.
If you don't believe me or the website then thats up to you.

Up to you then, how can we take money to the parachute site on Saturday that is tied up in the Internet.
I'm not here to argue with the likes of you. My girlfriend wants to raise money for a very good cause. I do not need to justify myself to you

As I said at the outset the charity pay for the training etc. so you get to jump for 'free' or for a share of the sponsor money you raise even if you never touch any of the money.
You stated that you were paying for the jump, I just asked you to prove it.
If others are happy to subsidise your girlfriends pleasure that's fine I just think that people should be aware of where their donations are going.
I just prefer my donations to go to the charity in full.

i can't see what your gripe is wembley. Even if the charity are subsidising the jump, anything over and above the cost of it, is donation to the charity and the jump itself highlights the cause.
Can't you either give credit to the girl for undertaking the jump, donate to it or leave it alone?

I just don't like subsidising someone for raising money for charity.
Perhaps I should mention my charity golf holiday with the lads - anything over a grand raised will go to the charity of your choice!
I promise I will keep nothing back after my trips paid for ...

Done.
wembley4372:-
1) Are you going to put your money where your mouth is and send a cheque directly to the Parkinson's Society?
2) Can't you see that what padders01's girlfriend is doing goes beyond just raising the money, bus also raising the profile of the particular issue and the charity concerned?

Wembley, you are a cock. End of. This is clearly an important thing to padders and all you can do is question him? Again ADMIN, please lock this so other stokies can see.... if someone posts something "unacceptable" you are quicker than road runner himself to punish/modify or delete.

This is one of my favourite charities as I have a mate who suffers really badly with this and most of the time he is unable to do most things.
He comes on the golf trips but cannot really play anymore, and sometimes even falls out of the buggy as he cannot hold on or balance very well.
Nobody sponsors my trips why should I help some stranger come on here and ask me to help their girlfriend go parachute jumping if you cannot see this for what it is then my golf trip is just as good a cause.
It matters not, whether the money goes directly to the charity or not, a subsidy is a subsidy.
