You would think they could reply to an Email though. It isn't just companies though Stafford. I pm'd someone on this very thread offering work & didn't even get the courtesy of a reply. And I know he saw it and opened it.

Just an observation - when I started this thread I said if anyone had skills to offer on a voluntary basis and seeing the skills we've got on here between us that aren't being used, we could probably have built someone a house. First thought is what a bloody waste, second thought is actually, why don't we? Publicity for a voluntary project might even help a few people get fixed up with something, or is that just my rose-tinted specs??

Thinking caps on? I seriously think there ought to be some kind of a project, somewhere.

Anybody sold RAC breakdown cover for a living. They claim the average person earns 3k a month - selling the policies directly outside shop premises.
Anybody done it? I have got the job if i want it, but it entails 1 week training course driving 60 miles there and back everyday. Am i waisting my time?

Blackpool Red- I have done something similar to that and it can get tedius when people just walk past you and dont give a flying hell that your there however thats easily overcome and just think about Stoke staying up. If you have patience and the job is yours then go for it mucka. A job is a job and if it is going to be stable then I would recomend you get into it considering how jobs are at the min.

I've done venue work similar to that blackpoolred, there's a mental hurdle that most people (me included) need to get over regarding rejection.
If you can get over that it's possible to earn good money, but you need to be prepared to pitch everyone eligible that walks past you, it's all too easy to get into the frame of mind where you're thinking 'they won't be interested'.
I used to quite enjoy it, earned some good money, and wouldn't be too upset if I had to go back to it, I only packed it in 'cos I was offered something with a bit more security.
Good luck with it, please pm me if you think I can be of any assistance.

I only work part time but I am looking for full time work. I am currently a swimming teacher, but hours are few and far between. I am also football level 1 qualified and have a degree, albeit it Sport (YES YOU CAN LAUGH NOW) Development. Any suggestions welcome In turn, these are my preferred sites for looking at jobs in sport/media: www.uksport.gov.ukwww.mandy.comwww.eis2win.co.uk/pages/www.sportengland.orgThese kind of sites can offer jobs around UK and the rest of the world and are some interesting roles. They also like to take on young, sport loving, newly awarded degree workers! Have a looksee, but if a job comes up that I like, wait til I have applied first then you can!

Just an idea, and I'm not a big fan of having loads of different boards, but how about a 'skills and trades' board or summat similar, where people can a) advertise their skills (I'm thinking decorators/plumbers/builders etc here) b) Request tradesmen for jobs they need doing Could also possibly be done on a thread here on the GD board? At least we'd be keeping some of the work that is out there 'in house' as it were. Just a thought.

Ely, I was hoping this thread might put skills/trades and punters together but you're probably right, it could need another although it does seem to work when someone asks for an electrician, builder etc. So have a think and maybe let's try one?
