I quit my job this afternoon after being pretty much threatened with the sack so was left no choiceApplied for 2 jobs already. Can't stand not working already and I'm still at college! Do tell ;D Just for you Beardy Basically, when they took me on 18 months ago, they knew I played cricket from April to September so I wouldn't be able to work 1 day at the weekend. Last year, I was working both weekend days and they were fine with me dropping the Saturday to allow me to play, thus moving that shift to an evening in the week after college However, this time around, I've decided to play on Sundays as I enjoy it a little bit more and also I get more of a game. I gave them a months reminder that my cricket season was coming back up and that I was playing on the Sunday this year instead of the Saturday and that I'd do any day in the week and even the Saturday, as long as I got the Sunday off. Considering the amount of favours I've done for them (including stopping back 2 extra hours on a Bank Holiday WITHOUT PAY because no-one was free to do some stock transfers) and the amount of overtime I've put in to do them a favour (and also fund my beer) you'd think what I was asking for was nothing A couple of weeks before I resigned, one of my managers came round and asked us to fill in a form that would tell the management team what shifts we can't do. I put that I couldn't do Sundays. I even debated with the manager in question about my cricket so I was given the impression that with me putting I couldn't do the Sunday, it would be sorted and that would be that. All sorted Last Tuesday, I saw that I was still being rota'd in for the Sundays so I spoke to my General Manager and he told me that I had no chance and that form meant absolutely nothing. Well, what's the point in going round and asking people what shifts they can't do then? So I was beyond pissed off with the lack of understanding, especially as this was the guy who employed me knowing full well that cricket comes before anything else to me as soon as the season comes back Now, this is where it is partly my fault.. I was incredibly fucked off by the whole situation and posted on Facebook, something along the lines of "I'm a bit pissed off". Someone commented and asked why. I told them why and swore a fair bit due to me being pissed off and feeling like I'd done a lot of favours for absolutely fuck all in return I went into work on Thursday evening to do some overtime and one of the managers called me into the office and started reading off some Code of Conduct stuff. I've never seen this in the 18 months I've been there so hearing what was being read was all brand new to me. The funniest part was that my comments on Facebook could "affect the companies share price in the global market"! Also, he tried to tell me that I was contracted to work on the Sunday. I've never seen my contract or even agreed to that contract. When I got made permenant, I agreed to working 10 hours a week. That was it. Not what days I do or anything. If the contract was amended, or even exists, then surely I'm in the right? So, I was left 2 choices: 1) Stay, still not play cricket, have an official disciplinary and more than likely be sacked for Gross Misconduct 2) Resign I took my resignation there and then
