I heard that too, had me quite worried. £3million will get us fuck all in the current market.
Im hoping that SSN have got their wires crossed there.
Weren't we going to offer £6.5mill for Ledley?
I doubt that £3mill would get us Zigic, Ledley, Surman and Lallana.

I'm sure he's got a kitty of around £10 million. Whether he uses that will depend on the available players and their price tags but I'm sure if the right players were there, he can go and get them.

And perhaps the same journo who claimed that neither Stoke or Hull would have a point by Xmas and that WBA were the only side coming up with any chance of survival. The daft bastard hadnt realised they played each other before Xmas. It wasnt typical journo sarcasm either. It was said with great seriousness.

I think he is also limited to 30 feet in combined height. So that is 7 ft for Zigic plus another 23ft for the other players!  |

They'll defo have more to spend - ultimately in the final hours on the summer transfer window we were bidding for 3 or 4 players (including Ledley at £6m) and we didn't get them.
Given our season so far, I have no doubt that Stoke will make the best possible effort to strengthen the squad - whether though purchases or cleverly playing the loan market.

I must admit, I'm not overly convinced by the 'Sunderland model' of Premiership survival that we seem to be using, but I think it'll have to wait until the end-of-season assessment. Let's stay in the division first, then decide whether its money well spent. I expect Pulis will have submitted a list to Coates, and Coates will try his best to sign the players off the list. If we're honest, I expect our spending will be directly relational to whether the likes of Ledley and Zigic sign - I doubt we'll have any other surprise signings. |

Im not sure whether the loan market is the answer Macc_Stokie. Sure TP can work wonders in it in the next division down, but its a whole different ball game now and I'd rather we bought players in permanently.
I could be wrong though, perhaps a loan deal for Zigic wouldnt go down a miss.

No worries mate, with my history of PHWery I can see why some people would think that way ;D I am pretty sure that Sunderland and City were spending that money not to just avoid relegation - they thought they would be pushing for Europe. In Sunderland's case it's delusions of grandeur. If a manager spends the best part of £30million on players and doesn't stay up, some questions need to be asked and answered, whether you are pro the Manager or not. |
