Good Afternoon! with all my respect, fellow Stoke City Supporters. My name is Bjarne. I’m 45 years young . I’m from Aalborg (Northern Jutland) DK. I have been a very passionate Stoke City fan since 1971. I have been reading the Oatcake message board for many years, but never have I written on it, before now. I’m coming to Stoke On Trent early February this year, to hopefully watch the away game vs. Wolves and the home game vs. Southampton. I have filled in the application form for the away card, and I hope it will arrive to me, before I leave for Stoke On Trent. I have been in Stoke twice. (Would like to come see The Potters a lot more, but my budget is limited The 1. time I was in Stoke were in 1981 (only 19 years old) - at the Vic. Vs. Ipswich. We won 2-0! And again at the Brit at Christmas year 2000 vs. Bristol City. We won 1 – 0 ! I try to support Stoke City as much as I possibly can, by buying merchandise from the web shop. I’m very much looking forward to come there again. Last time was absolutely great. I walked around in Hanley alone, but not for long. I meet a couple of nice guys who showed me around in Hanley at pubs and even nightclubs. I stayed in a B&B in Hanley, and one late night, I asked the bouncer in a nightclub: “would it be safe for me now, walking alone through Hanley, down to my "B&B”. He replied “No problem mate! As long you wear that Stoke City scarf you’ll be safe” I smiled and said thanks ! and went through Hanley feeling absolutely safe Great pubs you have but mostly important, you're a very very friendly people. My visits have been absolutely memorable. I lost connection with the two guys I meet in 2000. Instead I would very much like to meet some of you more passionate Stoke City supporters please. I’m staying in Hanley again and will be in Stoke for 6 days. Cheers mates. Looking forward to see/hear from some of you

:)Welcome Aalbourg. If I lived anywhere near Stoke I'd buy you a drink when you visited. I'm sure that you'll find a few closer Stokies willing to show you around in February.

Stick it; oh yes it would have been great :-) But I hope Pulis will do the same in the near future. I think he feel more appreciated now where the Pulis haters are keeping "low profile" :-)

Welcome to the board, Bjarni, or as we say around Stoke, ' Ay up, duck!' Let me warn you friend, supporting the Mighty Potters can become addictive. I went along in 1949, and have been vowing never to go again for years. Since 1971 is a good stretch for someone as far away as you, and you are indeed a true Stokie! Let us know when/where you will be staying when you get here, and I'm sure a few of us will try to meet up somewhere for a couple of pints.

Parkerson; Back in the early seventies, all the Scandinavian TV stations started sending LIVE football from the league division one (PL) And Stoke City were the most shown team in those days, believe it or not. I was only nine years old, looking at the telly a saturday afternoon, remembering asking my father; "Whose that goalkeeper on the one team, looking like a Chinese Man .... (yes I very did think he looked Chinese at that time) -and my father answered " He is the greatest goalkeeper in the whole world. He is playing for England and for Stoke City. "how come he play for two teams I asked".... ha ha ha... My father explained why :-). After that, the following monday; I wrote Stoke City at the board in my school class, explaining all my mates who Gordon Banks was and that he was the greatest goalkeeper in the world and that he was playing for England and Stoke City. I felt so proud. I feel in love with the Stoke City name and their red and white shirts (same as my danish favorite team Aalborg BK) - and simply loved the name: Victoria Ground!!! Its was just pure love from a 9 year old kid, who needed some idols from the land, who not onlu gave us football, but also live football right in our living rooms every saturday. At that time that was not normal with live coverage from football at all..........
