We need to decide what formation we're playing before deciding who to bring in.
If we're sticking with 433 we need a complete centre forward - strong and quick.
If we're sticking with 442 we need another Gallacher, and an actual wide midfielder to replace Junho.
If we're going 4231 we need a more mobile Burger.
If we're playing 523, god help us.
In all cases, we need a right back, and maybe a centre half to replace Gibson if promotion is a realistic aim.
I honestly think Burger is our biggest problem right now, because he's the bottleneck on turning defence into attack quickly, which is what Pelach's approach seems built to do. Same with Pearson, who is now useless to us - fit or otherwise.
We need a midfield of Sekos, really.

Burger did exactly what was asked of him yesterday, and it was refreshing to see him finish a whole game comfortably as well….

With Phillips now in the team I think we have enough cover in defence, and with Lawal on his way back we also have enough midfielders. Gallagher is the issue for me, a good player but terribly injury prone. We need another target man to have the option of going long when needed. So, for me we need to add another striker in the Gallagher mould.

I thought Burger looked as comfortable as he has done for a long while. I loved how he was constantly talking to Jun ho on the pitch side mic. He loves Jun ho..

There’s no chance we sign a centre half though unless one leaves?
And the one most likely to leave is the one we need ie Philips.

If we can actually get everyone fit I’m not sure we need much? Maybe a right sided defender but Junior was great yesterday and Wilmot can step in. Dixon also has impressed me this season in the cups.

And they clearly blocked getting him in the summer because they knew they didn’t want the manager here.

We've all got different opinions, I thought he was outstanding towards the end of the season and was part of the reason that we went on a very good run. I'd say a slight upgrade on Moran (although Moran will improve as he matures). Cundle is definitely one that i'd be happy with, although a first choice right back should be the priority

He was worth another loan at most to see if those few games were a fluke or not. Moran is such a better player and shown from the get go what Cundle should have been doing imo. The club clearly didn’t rate him or the bloke that bought him here and are right on both counts.

About £4m in transfer fees? Probably at £2m in loan fees We got £500k in? Plus a fair amount off wages Laurent, Campbell, Baker etc and a few loaned out Mmaee being the most obvious. Not sure if that impacts on FFP Including Tom Edwards who was on £12000 a week

He looks like he has a great engine and this will bring the best out of Burger who had his best performance of the season.

We still need a big powerful goalscorer. unfortunately they’re rare and cost shit loads of money which ffp doesn’t allow us

Cheers Nixon this morning (although no mention of LD/JW going personally) 'Stoke are keen to improve their squad and have even been to Ukraine in recent weeks to scout for bargains' www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-thelo-aasgaard-9684421He added that Stoke scouts have gone as far as Ukraine in recent weeks as they explore opportunities to bring in new blood.

It depends on what we mean by “not good enough” though doesn’t it? What is the aspiration? If we are looking to finish mid table, then I’d say we don’t need much, just a marginal improvement and injured players coming back. If we are looking to do better than that, then half the team needs replacing which isn’t happening in a January window.

I’m no particular fan of Gooch or Pearson, but they are senior players and would strengthen the bench at least.
