It seems clear we can’t play two high intensity games in a week, which is a massive prerequisite in this league…..why on earth is this the case? We looked fucked for 3/4’s of that match last night after having obviously shot our load v Norwich. Most teams look far fitter and stronger resulting in being too easily knocked off the ball and not getting to the second ball quick enough. What’s been going on over the last several seasons for this to be the case?

Noone knows whether fitness is the issue (how can it be over so many seasons and so many changes in staff?) or something else. I fear the fear of failure (to achieve a higher league position let alone promotion) wears heavily on the shoulders on the club.

SS has to take the blame for fitness. You could tell in the hull gsme, once they were asked to press and put energy in we lasted until half time. Like I’ve said, shame he wasn’t in full pre season then I’m sure with these double training sessions we’d be much fitter.

The season is a write off already unless we somehow land ourselves in a serious relegation scrap.
At some point, we just need to accept this and give the coach and club the time to have the longest pre-season in history in readiness for next season.
I have no idea if they aren't fit, are unfit or simply aren't fit enough but every signing we make just seems ridiculously one paced. Mmaee, Canon, Vidigal, Milly, Junho, even Koumas...none could be described as fast and in a straight foot race, even with a healthy headstart, you wouldn't back a single one of our players to outrun anyone. This is exacerbated even more in defensive situations because once an opposition player is past his marker, there is no way any of our players are catching them.
Pedestrian is a word I often use in relation to our team. Everything we do is "pedestrian". Only Johnansson shows any kind of urgency to get play moving quickly.

Okay, so what are the winning Lottery numbers for that evening? Considering he's already stated in the sentinel this week that we aren't fit enough and that Koumas came off because he was tired, it's not inconceivable to think that he's going to reference it on Saturday is it? Not sure why you've had to reply with a bit of a prick response to be honest.

Spot on Dave, can't remember the last genuinely quick player we had. Mikel Hansson was rapid, Mark Goodfellow also, but they were a good few years ago..

The only issue with this is how many of our current squad will be here and starting come August? Given we've got a few out of contract & 4 players on loan we're probably looking at 8-10 incoming next summer yet again.

It is so unacceptable that in October our season is over pretty much. Why oh why if they had doubts about Schumacher at the end of the season, did they give him the summer and then 5 games in, sack him, pure folly.

We have to get something embedded in so that the players that do remain here are all well on the way to understanding the demands of the coach and club.

Towards the end we had a break. Vidigal out wide. Chance to take on the full back. Vidigal fresh on the pitch. I was ready to see him blast past his man. I’ll be honest I think I would have kept pace with Vidigal. He was almost running in reverse.

I totally agree, countless times Johnansson has the ball in his looking for a quick “out”, to find players ambling about looking totally aimless. I’ve got to say, with that centre back pairing that resemble a couple of pub footballers,we are in big trouble.

I'm all for criticism of poor performance but you're obsession with blaming everything on SS is borderline weird.

In essence I agree with this, but football today dictates that if poor results continue, he won't last. One win in six, what if that becomes one in ten? I hope NP works but there's been some real worrying signs so far.

Do we seem to struggle more at home? I thought we outran Swansea easily the other week yet at home it’s a different story and we often look shot, although results have improved in the last 6 months or so I would say.

Fitness is one of our problems, eh hem... We can't tackle We can't defend set pieces We can't score from set pieces We can't pass And why oh why don't we have more shots?? I am constantly screaming "HIT THE FUCKING THING", and we play that one wank pass too many.

We have a very young squad. The are fit but not really old enough to sustain a championship game.
We would be better using them for half a game.

Love our hierarchy thought process, going from a fairly experienced manager, to a complete wildcard, only could that happen at Stoke 😔

Very worrying that Bristol city looked like a team that plays at least one division higher than us. It’ll be interesting to see how they go on against Leeds. If they look average then il be slightly concerned on where we’re heading this season
