Our midfield is awful and disjointed. With Burger injured (possibly temporary but you never know), we need someone to strengthen it. Lewis Baker would've slotted in brilliantly saying how bad our corners are. Hes a set piece specialist. Dont know why we havent got him.

I think the crisis is that we don't seem to play with a midfield.
We effectively play 4-2-4

I think the crisis is that we don't seem to play with a midfield. We effectively play 4-2-4 Correct and it proves in the last two games it doesn't really work,we have got to play 3 in the middle but unfortunately this manager won't do that it's a gamble every time we play, Cannon isn't a loan striker so unfortunately it's a shit show, the manager is just hoping we score more than we let in

He's causing it himself, there's other options he just doesn't seem willing to actually use them.

Seems that we don’t have a striker who can lead the line and therefore we have to play 442 which leaves us weak and outnumbered in the midfield. Desperate as it might be, we might have to play Ennis up front as a willing runner at least and get an extra body into the midfield. I genuinely fear for us at Sheffield on Saturday.

Pearson and Lawal will be the midfield once fit but who knows when that will be I’d be very surprised if Pearson plays another game for us and if he does it will be out of sheer desperation.

Seko has to be given a chance soon surely, Thompson did well when he came on against Norwich but showed tonight what everyone knows. Okay squad player but can’t be starting many for us if we want to do anything.

Isn’t he out for basically the season? No I don’t think so The last update we got didn’t sound positive at all on him, him getting injured again and Pelach said he will be ‘a long time’ and said Lawal will be back before he is.

He's a shadow of the player he was when he first arrived.

I think the crisis is that we don't seem to play with a midfield. We effectively play 4-2-4 Bang on the money Well went to Swansea and said after that we should not be playing the 442 as it clearly didn’t work. Every game since Pompey we’ve been overrun in midfield leaving glaring gaps and space regardless of who plays there. The problem? Tom Cannon. Hear me out here. He’s not good enough to lead the line alone, gets isolated and does barely nothing. He looks better with a partner up top but the sacrifice is having only two in midfield where we get overrun by most teams 3. I like two strikers up top, but that can really only be achieved with a 3-5-2 formation like Chico attempted today after making the first two subs. Back to 4-3-3 without Cannon. Koumas a different level to Cannon.

I have no idea why he doesn't give Seko more game time. Can't be worse than Moran and Thommo last couple of games.

It drives me crazy that when our back 3 are doing their side to side passing so much of it is because there's fuck all options to pass forward. I watched Thompson last night and he manages to hide behind an opposition player so as not to be available to receive the ball, it honestly looks like he's doing it on purpose. We look so weak in so many areas, shite recruitment.

Don't think we should blame the players. Moran in particular was quality and runs loads. It's the formation that makes us look like the Red Sea and most opposition like a bunch of Israelites

Given we have no viable alternatives it was a special sort of lunacy. Baker would have been just as invisible in terms of what we actually need in midfield, which is power and presence.

Once we’d gone 2 up and once it was clear they were constantly troubling us we should have had an extra body in midfield.
For me the manager waited too long to change it and when he did going to tie back 3 was the wrong move.

Moran played well. Has plenty of energy and can pick a pass.
Moran and Burger might just be functional as a two.
As big of an issue is the defence. Bocat didn’t look up to much last night, incredibly slow whereas I thought pace was the main part of his game.
And don’t get me started on Gibson. Wow. What an horrendous performance. I hope it was just him looking jaded after 2 games in short succession. But just looked utterly hopeless.
