Just reading the thread of Indian summer and instantly made me think of how I wished I had gone to a European away game. Went to all the home games but at that time couldn’t really afford to go to an away game. Would have loved to have gone to Kiev. Just wondered if anyone had any similar regrets

Yeah - the exact opposite! Went Valencia away expecting a European night to remember but TP took the kiddies and we bent over and took it dry without even a whimper - all to prioritise a home match v Swansea, despite thousands of Stokies spending their hard-earned to go all that way.
Dont get me wrong, we had an amazing weekend with the exception of 90 mins of garbage - but as a seasoned Stoke fan I suppose that is normal...

It was an unforgivably weak squad - and may have started the end for the manager - but we played a decent game. Drink may have been taken tbh! My big regret from that night was not making a run for it when we nicked the electronic subs board at the end. Would have been the best souvenir ever. Some couple wanted their picture with it and we got rumbled.

The home game with the first team we didn't last a glove on them That's how I remember it (although a modicum of alcohol had been consumed). Palacios had a good game and we had a couple of chances to go infront Kenwyn Jones missed a sitter. Not sure which game pez75 is refering to as when I went it was midweek.

Good run and tripped on the edge of the area The first team were hopeless in the home game. Created nothing

Yeah, Kenwyne had 2 glorious chances that might have changed the game, great trip though non the less and the day by the cathedral was excellent, allegedly the one where the holy grail was once!

FA cup final
Mate of mine knew someone in the referees association who had been offered a ticket (this was a week after the semi). He didnt want to go that year so he told my mate who offered it to me. I was absolutely delighted and made no other attempt to obtain a ticket. Even planned my train journeys down
A week before the final my mate text me to say the ref had forgotten to reply and hadnt got the ticket ☹️
I was seriously fucking pissed off

When I lived in Leeds 20 or so years ago there was a boutique-y vintage clothes shop near where I worked that had a beautiful early 80s Stoke shirt on a mannequin in the window. The bloke wanted 65 notes for it which at the time I just thought was a bit much. I went past countless times to see if the price had come down a bit, until one day it wasn’t there any more.
Regretted not stumping for it ever since.

It was a thursday night game, we stayed though the whole weekend. Maybe the game was not as one-sided as I may have inferred but it was paint-by-numbers football with a mostly B-team. Pulis had written it off and the news spread around the night before the game, in fact I seem to remember that we didn't even take a full squad? Valencia didn't seem too bothered either so any modicum of intent to win could have see a different outcome - that is my regret (well not mine cos there was nothing I could do about it but you know what I mean).

Not going to the away leg of the Cardiff play off semi-final in 2002. Everyone I know who went said it was by far the best mental and moment of unabashed joy they've ever had watching Stoke. I did at least watch it on the big screen at the Brit.

Went to all the home games but at that time couldn’t really afford to go to an away game. Would have loved to have gone to Kiev. Just wondered if anyone had any similar regrets I never got to go to any of the European aways due to personal issues at the time but it’s my single biggest regret as a stoke fan. Seeing all my family/ mates off to Valencia was gutting in the extreme. At the time- I thought it wouldn’t be long before I got another chance! How wrong I was.

Saturday morning of our FA Cup final at Wembley 2011 I got up to make a cuppa around 6.30am looking forward to watching us on telly later that day. Unfortunately I knocked my Stoke City mug, which I had owned for many years, full of tea on to the kitchen floor where it smashed into several pieces. I stood there staring at it full of regret knowing full well it was a bad omen. So it transpired. & I’ve blamed myself for the Wembley defeat ever since and have never replaced my mug.
