Wouter Burger is not that base (neither is Wilmot)

I honestly don't know how we've managed to recruit such an awful defence.
The entire side lacks balance. I can't see us in the top half.

It’s defence.
The CBs are the most important players on a team for me.
And we’ve consistently had a pairing for 7 years now that’s just not good enough.
How have we not recruited better in that department?
It’s criminal.

I thought the defence were poor but my God they were hardly helped by our so called midfield. We had two deep lying midfield players who were awol when being put under any kind of pressure. |

We’ve got players to come back and others who’ve had no pre seasons to get fitter. We’re up against it but it’s a strange division. Todays lineup is by no means our strongest and we’ve got half a dozen players who could come in and improve us. GK - Johansson - Excellent keeper RB - Junior - a lot to learn. Could Dixon do a better job? CB - Phillips - Best one in the club CB - Gibson LB - Stevens (if he can stay fit). Bocat had had some good games not given up on him yet. DM - Lawal DM - Pearson (though he’s out for a while. We need his experience) or Sidibe AM - Moran - Has shown flashes of quality RW - Manhoef - Best player STR - Koumas - Till Cannon looks interested or is fit. Not sure what it is yet. LW - Junho - Did some nice stuff today We also have Gallagher |

We have defenders who think they are Bobby Moore but play like Patrick Moore, Midfielders who think they are Paul Gascoigne but play like Bamber Gascoigne and forwards who think they are Harry Kane but play like Citizen Kane. To top it off we have a director of football who thinks he’s Alf Ramsey but is more like Gordon Ramsey, throw things in the pan and see how it turns out

After tonight it’s highlighted what a state we could be in.
Nothing to do with the managerial change, as I was never a believer that Schumacher was doing a great job.
The squad just looks a mess, the centre halves are a disaster. No way can those 2 play out from the back. You’ve got a right back who just isn’t at the required level. The midfield are weak, just no fight in it at all. Then you look upfront and you wonder where the goals are going to come from.
Pèlach needs to put some work in on the training ground and try and get them to be a cohesive unit, as they are a shambles at the moment and have been for big chunks of this season. They look like they need a mini pre season too as they just look so far off it fitness wise in comparison to the opposition.

Pretty much, Lawal is going to have to be the love child of Patrick Viera to get us out of the mess the midfield is. Burger is anonymous and easily bullied off the ball, Thompson is a league 1 player who slows everything down to pass back and sideways and none of them actually look comfortable with the ball at their feet. One other hope is that Seko looked bright and good on the ball when he came on. Unfortunately we look terrible on the ball and weak as piss physically to boot, which is on the recruitment team and that is before you then look back at the defence…. |

There's absolutely no physicality in the side. There's a non existent midfield and a defence that crumble under any pressure.
