At one point did Brighton appoint a rookie manager? Their current manager has never managed in the top flight and taken charge of 50 or so Bundseliga 2 games before joining Brighton. His only previous job was in the German 4th/5th tier I believe. I would say relative to the current status of Brighton he is very much a rookie manager….. The BIG difference is they have Tony Bloom and his company Star Lizard data making the basis of decisions. They don't miss, if you sign for Brighton wether staff or player. On what ever in depth metric you use they are doing something above the normal. We have John Coates and John Walters who between them no the square root of fuck all really. They've asked a few people who the most best coach is and who doesn't mind not signing players and eh presto, we've got a coach from a team currently below us who never even got mentioned as a potential manger in Nowrich circles.

It's certainly a massive gamble Emre, but we can only hope it's a master stroke and we can challenge the top end of the league for once.

In fact, If he was that decent a coach, it's a cheap position to fill. Why wasn't he in the prem at a Man City or Brighton doing sessions. Instead of Huddersfield or Nowrich, as you point out, age isn't a barrier if your good enough. I'd have reservations wether he's even that good of a coach in world class terms to be honest. If he was any club in the prem would have picked him up long ago.

MASSIVE gamble. Chico Bates for me.
He will be gone by Jan. Relegation dogfight on the cards
If this goes south, JW will need to be fucked off too as their fates are entwined.

Apologies if already mentioned but on the A Cold Wet Tuesday Night: A Stoke City Podcast they interviewed a Norwich journalist who'd spoken with Chicho a lot, sounds like he was dedicated defensive coach with Norwich and would have had a very close dealings/working relationship with Gibson which can only be a good thing, especially if Gibson is potential captain, will definitely help him hit the ground running having a strong leader in the squad who has worked with him before and presumably rates him

I just can't see it at all. As always he will get my absolute full backing but nothing to me adds up at all. In the half hour interview just released. He sounds like he's won the lottery.

What’s the thinking on where we need to finnish to keep his job (surely we can’t sack another one) are we looking at mid table as a minimum? Or are JW and JC expecting playoffs

30 min interview now on youtube I challenge anyone to watch that & not fall in love with the bloke. We're going piss this league! Something I couldn't help thinking while watching it is just what a monumental change we've seen at the club. Could you imagine if two years ago I sat here & told you that in two years time we'd be running the club with a DoF model, we'd have players from the Netherlands, France, South Korea & Japan, a shed load of exciting youngsters in the team from both Premier League loans & our own academy, and our manager would be a 36 year old bloke from Spain?! You'd have laughed me out the building as a mental case, yet here we are!

Of course it's a big risk but any appointment is and you can definitely see potential.

The fact that he was already lined up poses quite a few questions. 1) How long has he been lined up behind Schumacher's back? 2) If it's quite a while then how many of the new players we've signed had already had the seal of approval from Pelach? 3) Was SJW so nefarious that he's been undermining Schuey for quite a while?
And a final comment. SJW is a winner. I don't know any winners that were not ruthless b'stards when they needed to be.
There will be three losers if this goes all tits up... SCFC, SJW, and us fans.
Best hope it works.
OS.

Masterstroke by Walters or a complete fuck up. Nobody knows do they but listening to that interview this just feels a little bit different.
All on board, strap yourself in….. this is going to be absolutely fucking fascinating.

If Bojan comes out with a thumbs up on NP everyone on here will get a little bit excited 😂😂 That sentence also works if you remove the 'with a thumbs up for NP' bit. 🍆

A huge gamble but after watching his interview im impressed he has charisma and passion and also an eye for details which for me are big ingredients of a great leader.
