So does Pelach have to win more than 7 out of next 10 to keep his job? How was the record the 10 before that? That falls well into last season, so if it was poor sack him in May.

Not relevant really is it - we didn’t sack Schumacher then, we’ve sacked him after he has won seven in 10. Even if you go off this season alone, it was four wins from seven. Given you should only sack people if you think the replacement will do better, that is the bar that Pelach should be measured against IMO. Also there shouldn’t be excuses from him or Walters about he needs time or doesn’t know the players, they’ve got rid of Schumacher and this guy has agreed to come on the basis the existing situation can be improved. Might be harsh but so was the sacking.

I wonder if Whitehead has been added as balance to the Latin good looks of Chicho? We must be told He'd have to be George Clooney to balance out Deano wouldn't he? 😁

I have given up expressing my opinions on new managers/coaches at Stoke since none of them ever turn out how I had expected. (Well. Alan Ball and Lou Macari turned out exactly like I expected but that is hardly a great strike rate ). I must admit to being a bit surprised at the level of hysteria, both on here and social media, but I guess that is the nature of modern media where everything is brilliant or catastrophic with nothing in between. I know nothing about the new man (except the bits posted on here) so he has a completely clean slate with me. I have been pretty unimpressed by the first team coaching over the last few years, or certainly how it translates onto the pitch in games. There have been far too many games where the defenders pass the ball slowly between themselves with no available options in front of them. With Pelach seeming to be a coach first and foremost I am hoping that we get to see better organisation, players making themselves available to receive passes, making space for themselves and each other and looking like they know how they plan to score goals. (Not asking a lot I know ) As the saying goes, we are living in interesting times.

So does Pelach have to win more than 7 out of next 10 to keep his job? How was the record the 10 before that? Not great and I was just joking. Yet as you mentioned the 10 before, the first of those would have ONLY BEEN HIS 12th YES 12th GAME IN CHARGE!!!! He's done enough to deserve more time. Unless there has been an irreversible fall out. We'll never get anywhere playing manager roulette. With the 'Keep throwing shit at the wall, it'll stick eventually' mentality.

How was the record the 10 before that? That falls well into last season, so if it was poor sack him in May. So do some of the last 10. The point is stats can be manipulated. For as well as SS did in the last few games of the season, we were shocking in the games before it. After all, we entered the bottom 3 WITH SS at the helm. I'd have given him more time because I do think it is premature to get rid of someone so early after backing him over the summer to start the new season, but then again, I was very much in favour of sacking him back in March.

I am simply pointing out the flaw in using stats in a way to fit whatever agenda is being pushed. It suggests that SS was doing fantastically well, which is FAR from the case. As it goes, I agree, he should either have been sacked in the summer or given more time, but I think it is as clear as day that this decision has nothing to do with statistics or recent results.

www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/24593166.norwich-city-leigh-bromby-narcis-pelach-paul-clements/Departed goalkeeper coach Paul Clements will be a huge loss for Norwich City, according to his former colleague and ex-Canaries defender Leigh Bromby. Clements has joined new Stoke boss Narcis Pelach in leaving Carrow Road for the Potteries, ending a 15-month stay in Norfolk after compensation was agreed for the pair. Bromby, who worked with the pair at Huddersfield Town first as a coach and then head of football operations, believes that’s a significant blow for his former loan side. “I think it’s a big loss,” he told the Pink Un of Clements' exit. “You look at Angus Gunn and he says it’s the best he’s played in his career. I’ve watched him, and it is. “I think it’s one of the most important positions in the team, because we all know goalkeepers can win you so many points. He did it with Lee Nicholls at Huddersfield, and he’s done it with Gunn at Norwich. “It will have an impact. The players will love Paul and trust him. Trying to replace that is difficult.” The 39-year-old is highly rated across the footballing world, having previously worked at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Middlesbrough. Bromby is a big fan of his, and says he brings a variety of strengths to the table. “The biggest surprise when I left Huddersfield was Paul Clements leaving,” he continued. “I could not understand it. I had coached with him since the academy, so I was with him for 10 years. He’s the best coach, goalkeeper or otherwise, that I’ve worked with. “We were really lucky to have him. It’s not just the goalkeeper coaching either, he’s got other attributes and skills that help around the first team as well. For me he’s the best in the country. “Clem was really loyal to me when I was at Huddersfield. Stuart Webber brought him to Norwich, really valued him and thought he was good, and Stu knows what good looks like. He’s a top coach, a really good guy, and I’m sure he’ll make it a success at Stoke.” Pelach is no different, and his seen his reputation grow exponentially since moving to England with the Terriers in 2020. Bromby received approaches from multiple clubs for the Spaniard during his time at the John Smith’s Stadium, and knew from early in their time together that a career in the top job awaited his colleague. “You could tell that he was either going to work at the top level as an assistant or he was going to go by himself,” said the 44-year-old of Pelach. “He always had that burning desire to be a head coach. “At Huddersfield we wanted him to potentially move into that role. He took over interim a couple of times, but it didn’t quite work, because sometimes you just need to get the results. But there was always the intention of getting him into that role. “Straight away you were like ‘this coach is really talented’, in terms of his professionalism and the way he went about it. He was really enthusiastic, professionally outstanding and as a person he cared about the club and wanted to get better. “He had that part of it as well, and you don’t always get both. He had a good mix of personality and drive. I’ve got nothing but superlatives to say about him.” That work ethic and likeability is what leads Bromby to believe that those behind the Colney scenes will wish Pelach well, from former bosses to the players he’s worked with. “Because he’s a good character and a good person, I think he’ll leave Norwich and they’ll want him to do well,” the ex-Leeds player added. “I bet everyone, the new manager, the old manager, will be texting him wishing him all the best. “He cares about improving players, that’s the key. It’s very individual in terms of trying to develop players, and he was good at that, he understood that. “That’s why the players love him: not because he goes in and he’s everyone’s friend and going out with the players, the players love him because he cares about making them better. “He’s not a soft touch. He’s got a great personality and a likeable personality, but players like him because he pushes them to improve. That’s what coaching is.”

Might be harsh but so was the sacking. The last 3 managers we’ve had have all finished the season well and we’ve given out spankings. But have failed to keep the consistency at the start of the next season having been able to have a full pre-season. I’m not saying that Schumacher’s record is bad. But when you look on the face of it all he’s done is replicate the same results at the end of a season as the previous managers we deemed not good enough…

With the 'Keep throwing shit at the wall, it'll stick eventually' mentality. I personally would have sacked him in March, he was taking us down until JW came in, did his rallying call and all of a sudden we started winning. Before people get upset, I am neither discrediting SS or crediting JW. That being said, if JW and JC decided to back SS over the summer rather than take the time to reset, then I fully agree that he should be given more time. But I am not going to pretend I am happy with the team were producing this season. 3 goals in 5 games with 2 wins and 3 losses. It was becoming more and more apparent that SS's Plan A was simply to stop the opposition's Plan A and that for me is unacceptable management. His Plan B was to chuck anyone on and hope for the best. I have no doubt SS will get another shot or 2 at this level but I fully expect him to be back in L1 within a few years, just dont think he is cut out for this level or above really. Now it moves to Pelach and judging by the negative comments already surrounding his experience etc, we are risking giving him no chance at all and the team inevitably failing, regardless. We need to get behind him and the team and hope it all works out. I for one am fully behind him.

I truely, truely hope the new Coach doesn't read anything on this message board The melt-down re: the dismissal of a manager who, to me, never looked particularly confident or comfortable in the role and who I felt, was unfortunately not the right fit for where we were at is a little obcessive. I wish SS much luck in his next role but I cannot see why people, who have been moaning about the awful performances in 3 of this season's matches and moaning generally and moaned last season are no longer able to see why people who are much closer to the situation have chosen to make a non-dithered decision for once. Maybe we should sometimes look at ourselves on this message board and the role that social media plays these days. Players are criticised and some villified, managers, DoF's , the Coates family all it would seem fair game. The amount of rumours, ridicule, general rubbish that is sometimes written With all the will in the world to try and avoid the keyboard warriors it is human nature to find out what people are saying about you. Imagine coming on here and seeing some of the stuff that's said The situation is as it is. It would be nice to really get behind the new Coach and his assistants and the players for once but already it's mainly sarcastic comments about failing (some on here seem to be willing that to happen!) how long he'll stay in the job blah! blah! I know what we've gone through as supporters and we have the right to moan and voice our views BUT some of it gets donwight nasty. I know, I don't need to come on here. I've been on the MB for many years now and have often stepped back from posting. I am however, beginning to wonder if we are our own worst enemy. A bit of positivity without jumping on the bloke's back would make a refreshing change and the idea that Walters has somehow morphed in to an egotistical Bond villain is also a little embarrassing. Onwards and hopefully upwards!

I hope Whitehead is a better coach than he was a footballer. Has for SS,all the best for the future,I think the club were wrong to let you go. I think if you sliced up Dean Whitehead it would say "Tony Pulis"all the way through him.
Not a great footballer but got the job done and no one messed him about, not twice anyway!
