Ah he will end up with Plymouth no less !!! Is that what we should aspire to ? A manager so good that he might even land the job as top dog at mighty Plymouth ??!! They're about as mighty as we are right now, so why not? They are as mighty as to what we have been reduced by having clueless and talentless people like Steven Schumacher as managers

Would suggest that it's too few games to judge I can see why you think that, but I disagree. Coventry - lucky to win Watford - Embarrassing WBA - Outplayed at home Plymouth - Quite an open game, but it had nil nil written all over it until Million stepped up Oxford - Disgusting And for him to have quality players at his disposal but to persist with tactics they don't understand and players out of position when there is better on the bench, he basically signed his own P45. Coventry had 1 shot on target but Stoke were lucky to win? Watford - agree WBA - outplayed? Manhoef misses a tap in and Koumas is unlucky with a shot against the inside of the post. WBA took the sting out of the game but didn’t outplay us by any stretch. Plymouth- Manhoef should have had us 2 up by half time, so how you arrive at 0-0 is a bit of a puzzle. Oxford - agree.

I just hope he hasn't brain washed JC to the point he's almost unsackable. If this next HC doesn't work out Walters should be under serious pressure given he's just sacked a coach that almost no fan was calling to be sacked. It was unnecessary and far too early. Walters has put a target on his own back cos he lost his shit with Schumacher. Its not a good sign. Smells like a bully.. Palech isnt just a spur of the moment interest and SJW obviously had a reason to get rid when he did We should just trust what has gone down and just hope this all works out👍 Aye time will tell. But I'm calling it now, Walters in his inexperience has opted for the bully approach. He's failed an early test to get what he needs out of a promising young coach which is a failure on his part. And prospective HCs will become aware and we'll struggle more than we usually do to get decent ones. Its a terrible look for the club.

My guess on what happened:
JW: OK it’s the international break and we have the squad in place we want. Can you coach the team as we discussed?
SS: Yes but with a few differences.
JW: No, as discussed.
SS: But I have a better idea.
JW: OK well prove it against Oxford.
Oxford game happens.
SS: I’ll get my own lift back.

Stats speak for themselves guys. He's gone now, so let's see what happens.
On a different note, if you ever speak to Pejic, ask him about Walters and his honest opinion of him. One thing is for certain and that is that you'll get an honest answer.

Judging by the way Pej drones and moans on during co-commentary stints I would imagine he'd moan about himself if left on his own with a mirror . I'm afraid you can't be popular with everyone 'tis a fact of life and I imagine Walters is pretty strong willed and thick skinned but you have to be. Still, sorry that it was your cousin who's lost his job , I'm sure he'll find a better fit when he's ready. What will be will be .

Steve came to Stoke on the back of an impressive promotion and especially good home record. He summarised his playing style as "pass forwards/run forwards".
Unfortunately, too many performances were just nowhere near good enough, based on bizarre team selections and seemed to be more about not losing than winning.
It's a pity that it hasn't worked, but Jon Walters did the right thing sacking him.

The strategy of appointing a young, promising, head coach and bringing in young, exciting players with the ability to grow is a good one. It does however, almost certainly lead to inconsistent performances and results in the early stages of the plan.
I have been critical of many of our performances under Schuey. There have been times when he made bizarre selection and tactical choices. He sometimes asked players to perform roles that they clearly did not have the ability to fulfil. He was prone to over adjusting to counter some perceived strength of the opposition, rather than focussing on our strengths, and he has been out-coached at half time far too many times. All that said, I think he had shown that he could learn from his mistakes.
The strategy we seemed to be taking was one that needed time. I'm not sure we gave Schuey that time. We seem to be courting an even younger, less experienced coach; will we give him time?

You cannot judge a manager after just 32 games. His win rate was 40% which is fairly good.
I think the club has made a mistake but we just have to wait and see if the new guy can do better.

Off the back of inheriting Alex Neils mess as well. In his first big test Walters has shown his true colours. He's out of his depth and will be using bully tactics as his way of doing things under the pretence we're stoke and we're hard. He has failed to bed in with the young coach we brought in to build a side with and create stability. Walters is a shit house in my opinion

Not sure why others might be saying it but there's a few hints for my money. The biggest one being it happened so quick and the other being from a results perspective there isn't really the justification for it. Losing 3 in 5 with a couple of decent wins in between is not a bar any club I can think of uses to fuck managers off. I've also not liked any of Walters interviews. Comes across as a smug twat. How he got a gig as big as this I'll never know..

Billy smarts circus 🎪 Yep seems daft chasing a manager then giving them limited time. Doesn’t seem to go much thought in getting the guy in, or if there is they’re not giving them time or getting their vision across very well.

Can't say that I ever had confidence in Schumacher as I felt that he was learning on the job and that we needed a more experienced Manager. Having said that, I think that his sacking is a terrible decision and a poor reflection on our management. We should have persevered with him and at least given him more time and a chance to succeed. I thought that getting rid of MON was a mistake and I think this is another one. Maybe Walters will be proven right but I doubt it. We are in too much of a hurry and are looking for instant success, when we should be steadily building a structure that will bring and sustain continued growth. This quite clearly requires stability and not this constant upheaval which seems to be self defeating.

I still say (although it sounds dinosaur-esque) that if there is a nucleus of local lads in the squad it gives a certain DNA quality / loyalty / identity which ‘outsiders’ cannot bring to the table - I’m not talking about majority of the squad or anything like that, just 5 or 6 would be nice, Sol is a good start - I know Tom Edwards didn’t quite work out but before him there was Wilko and Carl Dickinson who were very popular as was Ryan Shotton then not so long ago Paul Ware/Carl Beeston and before then Bould, Heath, Chamberlains, Chapman, Crooks, etc etc Where there is a will and determination it CAN happen. There’s a really excellent exciting 10 yr old striker who was in my grandson’s Sunday team, you’ve guessed it - Prem clubs fighting over him and he now goes to Man City twice per week. Why can’t Stoke be in for kids like that? Is there a local scouting system or will it focus mainly on certain places in U.K./ on continent?
