Very little surprises me these days but Iâm shocked.
One can only hope the head coach model is implemented properly with the timing (just after the transfer window) and we already had a shortlist.

Who's available? We've clearly got someone lined up you'd think? This has to be why. Must have a replacement lined up. Hopefully do a Watford and announce later today. ( although I think he deserves more respect than that). Moyes anyone?

Total BS statement from the club. It was Schuey who has MADE the young and dynamic squad. Youngest starting 11 in history etc. Something 100% has gone on behind the scenes since the Oxford match. Just wish they would be honest and transparent about it. In disbelief. You could tell from the fans forum that there was tension between Schumacher and Walters fishlovesoatcakes what's happened?

Whether you liked Schuey or not that's appalling, he was undermined the moment they brought in offside Walters. Deserved better treatment. The club really is a shambles

Strangest sacking I can remember.
Just bizarre.
But got the impression Walters was keen to move in as soon as he could to get rid.

Let's just hope this isn't another Eustace situation... Uncompromising at the very least. It reads as though either SJW and Coates someone in mind or that someone they want has become available.

Agree, Pej giving a good insight on Radio Stoke now, saying a power struggle with SJW and Shawcross against Schuey. Either way what an ABSOLUTE MESS and EMBARRASEMENT.

Steven Schumacher has left his position as Head Coach of Stoke City.
Jon Walters said: âMy role as Sporting Director is to make tough decisions that serve the long-term interests of Stoke City. âAfter ongoing discussions with John Coates, we feel the time is right for a change in direction to bring success to the club.
âWe have a young, dynamic squad that is eager to develop and a clear vision of how to achieve success, and we hope to announce a new appointment shortly. We will need the fans, staff, and players united in support to achieve our goals.
âAs always in football, these decisions are difficult, and we wish Steven and his staff all the best for the future.â
With Mark Hughes, Chris Cohen, Peter Cavanagh and Elliot Turner having also left the Club, Alex Morris and Ryan Shawcross will take caretaker charge of the team.
Chair John Coates added: âSteven, Mark, Chris, Peter and Elliot depart with our thanks for their efforts and with our best wishes for their future careers.
âWe have faith in the squad of players we have assembled and firmly believe they can bring success to Stoke City this season.
âI continue to be hugely thankful to the Clubâs fans for their loyal and passionate support.â (Sentinel)

Charlie Adam must be a contender?

Itâs an excellent decision.
We have a talented squad and the likelihood of him taking it forward looked slim based on everything weâve seen since he was appointed.

I meanâŚ
I kind of get it. Weâve got a good squad in my eyes and if weâre not in the top half itâs a big failure. I doubt many of us would be confident enough to put big money on Schumacher achieving top half though.
We have a pretty generic setup in a 4-3-3 nowadays, with a squad built to play the kind of football nearly every manager wants so itâs not like weâre handing a 3-5-2 trained squad over to someone whoâs never even heard of a wingback. So weâve kind of set up as we were meant to be after âThe Resetâ where the head coach/manager is just an employee we can replace without having to start over from zero every single time.
Itâs just⌠Why not do this over the international break when there were 2 weeks to get something sorted? Was the reserves v reserves win in the cup really that impressive to keep him in the job? Or the 1-0 win at Wayne Rooneyâs latest relegation destined club?
Maybe he got feedback after the Oxford game and didnât take it well? Itâs hard to image that game alone was the straw that broke the camelâs back.
Anyway. Iâll save my judgement until the next manager is announced. It better be someone impressive. If itâs another up and coming manager from league 1 or 2 then Iâm not hating it under normal circumstances⌠it just seems strange to appoint someone like that and not give them a couple of seasons to find their feet if thatâs a route we are commited to! We were a decent chunk of the way through that learning process with Schuey.
