Truly disgraceful. The champions Lge is slowly morphing into the European Super LGE that nobody wanted except the greedy top clubs. And this would have been one of the consequences. Total disregard and disrespect for the footballing supporters. Of course it is. The trouble is, no one wants to watch Aston Villa. The only positives about a true super league would have been: 1. You get to watch the best football on the planet. 2. Domestic leagues would have been slightly more balanced because state run clubs would be off playing each other. I genuinely think that it was an opportunity missed for most clubs.

Do armed forces usually get cheaper tickets to matches? Can’t say I’ve ever noticed it before, not that I’ve been paying close attention. Probably a Villa policy, however I've not seen it regularly at all. Maybe they have a more military background than I've heard of? Yeah, there are a few reactions on here saying that the fact that they get such a small discount is insulting but I think that’s a weird take given that usually they would pay full price for football tickets. The fact that they get any discount at all is notable. Personally I don’t think they should get any discount. Absolutely no disrespect to military personnel but ultimately it’s a career choice made by adults who knew what they were signing up for. I don’t think football clubs should have to give them a discount to show appreciation for that. This isn’t America.

crumbs, the league stage matches are going to be a long and tedious slog too, 8 matches to try to get to the KO stages, quite an endurance test, you wouldn't wish watching these blasted matches on your worst enemy.

This country is becoming beyond a fucking joke…..the greed that propels it is sickening. The problem is,we go ahead and pay a la Oasis tickets etc They blame Brexit and the war in Ukraine but having spent 18 days in Italy and paying no more than 2 euros for a coffee in central Siena,1.50 for a big Moretti in Lidl ,4 for a wine at a “posh” opera ,where also a beer was about 2.50…..and a really decent meal with drinks was never more than 20 euros a head! I get back here and a bog standard Thai meal with a fucking Coke was £30…!Im now refusing to pay over £2 for a coffee, they can go fuck themselves. I know this rant isn’t footy related but just an example of how massively ripped off we are getting in the UK. Fuckin spot on mate…. This country is a joke with prices… it as fuck all to do with the war or fuckin Brexit..!!! Just moved back to the uk after spending 14 years in Paris, France.. I thought Paris was bad, fuck sake the British people are being truely bum fucked every morning, afternoon and evening,.. and there’s a budget coming up, where more surprises will hit us..!!! Protect your families..!!!

I'm almost glad that I am getting to the age where I will stop going, & I've been a S.T. holder for over 60 years. It will only get worse, as they are looking after them at the top of the tree. To be fair our club have never done this to us. This shouldn't be allowed to happen. Hope they don't sell out

I will scream this til I’m red in the fucking face but we are beyond lucky with ticket prices
ST prices that haven’t gone up a penny since I was bloody 12 I’m now a 28 year old man
Just stop and consider how extraordinary that is in these times, yes we might have gone from the prem to a middling Championship team but with my included disability ticket it works out at something like a fiver a game each for me and my mate
It costs more to park the car (fucking robbing holiday inn bastards 😂)
These ticket prices are a disgrace and a slap in the face to Villa fans and frankly football generally.
If they’re going to keep pulling this crap sack it off and go watch non league
Games bloody gone

I genuinely think that it was an opportunity missed for most clubs. If the super league went ahead, the elite clubs would fuck off and take all the national/international media, all the men in suits, and all their armchair fanboys across the world; and domestic football would become a glorified version of Scottish football. But honestly, I don’t even find that an unattractive proposition. It was an opportunity for all us supporters of non-elite clubs to reclaim our ancestral heritage from the grasp of vultures. You only have to look at small european leagues (and small clubs generally) to realise that the heart and soul of clubs still thrive even when the quality of the actual football is lower. Even with a ESL, English football would still remain the best domestic product. Maybe the top flight would become more like a hybrid between lower premiership and top 2/3 championship but, even despite how frustratingly wank stoke have been since relegation; I’ve still enjoyed it.

They won't all have played one another but a league table it will be.

Like so many 'big matches' on 'Super Sunday' (sic), they are utter borefests for folk who have never been to a game in their life to comment on on social media. I'd prefer top watch Carlisle v Crawley. Sooner the big boys fuck off to a Super League, the better. The sport is n99% attention on 6 clubs and is now an utter pile of steaming shite, beloved by gurning, rich folk for whom it's their new plaything.

Was removing away goals an improvement or not? I enjoyed it when there was that added jeopardy, but never really looked into the argument against away goals. (Maybe keeping ties alive longer?)

I agree it seems very expensive BUT they will sell out and the ground WILL be rocking. And that makes it right? Well, if you are a believer and true supporter in a free market economy, like the leaders and governing party of this country were from shortly after June 23rd 2016 until July 4th 2024 then you surely have to think its right. In fact you should argue that they are not charging enough if there is still excess demand over supply. However, no I think it is massively wrong as do the loyal Villa fans who have supported the club through all of the years when supply of tickets certainly exceeded demand! There is a great article published on the Villa Fans website Heroes and Villains. This bit sums it up nicely: The prices for the Champions League fixtures at Villa Park are disgusting. And I don’t think that’s hyperbole, it really is disgusting. It’s nakedly taking advantage of the loyalty that fans have shown over the years – we have been desperate to get back amongst this level, and now that we’re there we have to pay through the nose to witness it. Because if we don’t, someone else will. Fuck the atmosphere, fuck what it means to you, fuck your loyalty and fuck you. This is the price; pay it or fuck off. Hopefully the person that takes your seat will eat more burgers than you.

Disgusting way to treat their fans on top of a ST rise aswell. Think £40-£60 would be fair, or a 4 game package for £120-£150. You'd want the ground rocking, 1st time in 40 years is it? And fans being fleeced. Massive own goal from above. I agree it seems very expensive BUT they will sell out and the ground WILL be rocking. I'm not so sure. If Stoke got to Champions League I wouldn't go on principle at £80plus! No chance, football will kill itself!

It's made the media now and a few wives will be having words with hubbies about the costs for him and the kids, and any other factor of relationship to be taken into account on who buys the tickets and goes to the matches.
