I’d love to know the ins and outs behind this deal. Just seems so incredibly random. Yeah, it's a puzzler on the face of it. Essentially a back-up player (in the words of one of their fans), who's started about half the games, for a J-League team in the last 2 seasons. Could be a triumph of scouting - and Japanese players tend to slot in well so it may be that we're still sleeping on the overall quality of the league and the ability of their players to step up - but just seems...random, to the point that I'm still not sure it's happening despite it walking like a duck, swimming like a duck, and quacking like a duck. But if we don't see him as a starter ( we don't need anyone who isn't a step above the likes of Thompson), seems a bit odd. If we do see him as a starter, I'd like to see the player that's been largely keeping him out of the team?! The only thing I would say is that his team are clearly the best or certainly one of the best in J League so he’s not from a mid table club.

Medical Tuesday apparently. Medical Tuesday was a Nigerian left-back on Jared's list that we opted not to bid for last season.

They finished 8th last year, and they're 13th this year with a few games left - so they haven't been one of the better teams in the last couple of years, and yet he's still only started 11 of their 27 games with no injuries. Just seems a strange player to home in on when you've got a wild card and the whole world to find an answer to our DM problem.

I suppose being a DM a lot of there work goes unnoticed unless you’re Kanti or Rodri. I’m trying to sell this to myself

I'm impressed by the amount of chancers that have appeared about this deal out of thin air, almost like they've been watching my work over the years.

I thought this guy could play right back as well. Did someone not say that early on.
If he can it makes perfect sense

I'm guessing this guy wouldn't qualify for a work permit without a wild card?

Posted this on Twitter after the game saying exactly that Did he reply? But midfield is where our biggest problem is. Don’t see able to find a blend from a bunch of players who look good on paper

From the clips I've seen he looks to be composed and confident on the ball so if we're going ahead with the inverted full backs he might actually be suitable for that role.

It’s been a good while since I’ve fully understood our transfers but this one makes absolutely no sense.
If he qualified for a permit without a wildcard I’d understand it a little more, but when we are so short of real quality in so many positions why are we signing a (what is generally considered) a below average jobbying DM/CM (which we have about 97 of currently) come right back.
I get get need for cover, but we’re not at that stage yet, we need to start signing players who are specifically for specific positions.
We can deal with cover after that.

The cynic in me says that such a signing "proves" we are casting our net far and wide and are not stuck looking in tge championship. This is low risk costs us nothing and also opens uo Japanese market. This signing would make sense from an optics perspective

If he's an out and out 6 I think he'll be great signing.
Japense league rarely fails to deliver and you know your signing a player with an outstanding attitude.
Will help with Bae and also gives us an advantage if we wish to explore that market in the future which we should be.
Seko Bosun Moran
I think that will be the midfield by the end of the window.
