The fact he seems to be so unheralded in Japan makes it so much more intriguing though - that they know all his stats and that he hasn't always been first choice, yet have still seen enough to take the swing just seems so interesting Work rate and attitude seem to go down well in the brave new world of SJW. No doubt we'll see soon enough but it'll certainly be interesting. About time we had some of that in the middle of the pitch |

The Japanese players (well 5/6) that Postecoglu brought at Celtic have been in the main, brilliant. The fact he seems to be so unheralded in Japan makes it so much more intriguing though - that they know all his stats and that he hasn't always been first choice, yet have still seen enough to take the swing just seems so interesting Yesterday, on Sky, there was an interview with Rob Key who explained his rational for selecting Josh Hull, a young, inexperienced bowler with barely any first class figures to talk about, ahead of Sam Cook whose got hundreds of county wickets at a more than decent average. He went on to explain that he picks players to play a specific role within the team and judges them on how they adapt to certain in game situations rather than thier statistics. Hopefully, we're taking a similar approach at Stoke and this guy is indicative of that. Probably not though. He's bound to be wank. |

Brit - British Aussie - Australian Croatian - Croat Serbian - Serb American - gobshite I really don’t get why some races get so offended by shortening there names, the most obvious and contentious is Pakistan and Paki which I found absolutely bizarre, in no way whatsoever a racist slur. If you've managed to get to 53 witbout understanding the of the use of the word 'Paki' as something derogatory, then that's incredible on your behalf. I know people much older than you that wouldn't use that word. The etymology of the word being a shortening of the word Pakistani is one thing. But you're clearly and quite willfully ignoring the historical context the word holds, and that's a choice. It's not my fault you can't grasp the concept that different words hold different weight depending on certain social connotations. It's not just the shortening of the word is it, and you know that really. It obviously has been used historically to degrade people, whether they're actually Pakistani or not. I'm not here on the Oatcake to explain power dynamics that exist between different races, cultures or general identies. And I bet you wouldn't use it in public without being hidden behind an anonymous account online. Especially not to the face of a Pakistani. |

Excited to see him play. I guess this is seen as a low risk, high reward kind of transfer for the same kind of money that typically gets you someone like Ennis.
He looks good technically from the YouTube clips (but so do most players), can seemingly play multiple different roles in midfield and can fill in at RB,and he’s probably a good character if he was previously a vice captain.
We are also quite well stocked in midfield, so if he’s not good enough then we can cope without him.

Burger
Seko

Moran
Sidibe
You'll obviously have Thompson and Pearson thrown in occasionally but I think they'll become bottom of the pile and the next ones to leave the club.
I'm still considering Junho as a wide left player but he obviously comes into play here as well depending on what the manager thinks.

this is false equivalence at its finest. the history, usage and attitudes towards the word are what decides whether it's a slur. you know as well as I do the kind of loaded racial connotations the P slur has, and has had since at least the 60s, especially in this country. don't be a fucking idiot. Some shortenings are considered racist in all contexts and rightly so. Words like Brit and Aussie, they aren't. Paki in every context is racist. I think it's because the two you quoted as offensive, those abbreviated names were used alongside swear words to put people down. Not sure if mentioned already but he could be the new set piece taker, judging from YouTube I thought that. Also noticed he looks super comfortable receiving the ball from the keeper under serious pressure and breaking the press. So I wonder if he’s the 6 for teams who press aggressively and we’ll use him as a ‘press breaker’ |
