Looks like we’re paying around £5 million for this kid. Absoloutely mental. Wouldnt of thought we’d spend the bulk of our budget on a 20 year old defensive midfielder tho. Crazy I wouldn’t have thought it was the bulk of our budget. Not going to lay it all out again. But yes I get your point I wouldn’t have expected us to be in the market for a DM at all and am still baffled by it.

Ok, but what's he actually said? Interested? Deal done?.. a lot can get lost in translation and I don't want to get my hopes up. This has got 268k followers and seems to see him as credible? Claims he said he's travelling to England in the coming hours? www.futbolecuador.com/site/noticia/ultima-hora-oscar-zambrano-se-va-a-la-championship-de-inglaterra-negociado-por-liga/166909Breaking! This Sunday night, colleague Stalin Cobeña, very close to the Liga world, confirmed that Oscar Zambrano is leaving the institution, once an agreement has been reached to transfer him. Oscar Zambrano, holding midfielder for Liga Deportiva Universitaria and one of its best footballers, will finally play in the English Championship, and in the next few hours he will travel to that country. There, months ago, he had everything agreed with AFC Bournemouth of the Premier League, but the leadership led by Isaac Álvarez declined at the last minute. Now, Zambrano's destination, always according to the source in question, will be the Stoke City team, a regular in the first division, but which is currently hosting the English promotion tournament. The contract between the parties has not yet been revealed, but everything points to a definitive sale. He says potentially so there is nothing agreed yet.

Oh, you know, maybe.. Burger is going to play further up the pitch? 😲😉 I'll be surprised if one of Pearson and Thompson don't leave in January. I don’t get his insistence that Burger shouldn’t be further up the pitch. He can do everything, why would you limit him? He can tackle, pass and shoot. His long range shooting I think will be a part of us scoring more goals if he can get enough shots off. It’s pretty obvious Burger is a box to boxer to me. And a bloody good one. That's exactly where he will play Bayern. He will be left of the three in midfield and will be a major assett going forward and covering when defending. If he can last 90 mins frequently he will be class for us.

Would be a very strange move imo. Of all the areas of the squad DM is the most well stocked. We have a lot of DMs but none of them are great and after striker it is the worst part of our squad imo. An inadequate DM is the reason our defence sometimes looks poor.

We have at least 5 players 6 if you include Sidibe who have been deployed in the role in their Stoke career. The HC plays 1 at the base of his most midfield. So yeah it’s kind of puzzling atm. Yeah and they all either don't play there or are shit. If the season started tomorrow I'd play Sidibe there. Burger needs be box to box. Laurent/Baker useless at it and probably won't be here. Pearson busy lathering himself in baby cream. Thompson absolsultey fine as back-up - cup games. If we get this position right it will set the whole team off! Well done Stoke. If you have been to any pre season friendlies, you will have seen Sidibe is nowhere near ready to play a full season in championship yet

Box to box definitely. He's not a DM as he isn't disciplined enough to sit and wants to be involved everywhere on the pitch. Him and Sidibe as box to box with this guy, if he adapts to English football could be a brilliant midfield three.

What type of midfielder is he? More of attacking mid or defensive? What kind of midfielder is he? Think Bryan Robson crossed with Zinedine Zidane. pissed, injured & likes a headbutt?

We had at least one after the release of Wesley I think. But good theory, could explain our ‘British first’ approach that people think. I’m not sure Wesley would’ve been an ESC player if he was joining from Villa. IMO, they would’ve been Bae, Burger, Jojic and Mmaee because of the leagues they joined from. Leris, Vidigal and Manhoef would’ve been fine as the leagues they joined from were of a much higher standard. Might be wrong, but that’s how I understood it worked. I think Wes did need one. Although he had a work permit at Villa we had to apply for a new one and he hadn't played the requisite number of games to get one.
