Anyone noticed the USA did not win any shooting medals? All the guns in the world and no one who can shoot straight! Use a picture of a black man as the target and they'll win the lot........

That Italian lady deserves huge respect for even getting in the ring. Was the Algerian person a man? I wonder where she got her conversion therapy given that it’s illegal in Algeria. Would be surprising if Algeria had her move forwards considering even being gay is a prisonable offense. Her boxing record isn’t that impressive either for someone who is said to have such an important advantage. If she is/was a man, I don’t believe that they should be boxing women. However, it seems sketchy to me. Algeria isn’t the first country that springs to mind when I think of “woke agendas trying to put people on a pedestal”. There are suggestions that she has a rare condition that affects her blood testosterone levels, meaning she falls into the male range. But in fact she was born female, and she's female on her passport.

You could put what I know about gymnastics in a thimble and I realise Simone Biles has a sob story but Jesus the Beeb have got such a massive hard on for her you wouldn’t think anyone else existed in the world It's ridiculous mate . I know fuck all either but my wee one's big into it and competes at a decent standard - it actually turned her off from watching it. She pointed out a couple of half steps, where feet weren't tucked in right, etc but there was absolutely no deduction. I don't know enough about it so going mention it when she goes back gymnastics but the wee lass genuinely asked what the point was if deductions don't apply to her. Maybe she's wrong but the whole thing was totally bizarre.

Failed sex tests mate so the world governing body banned them and they didn't challenge it at court of arbitration. Appears more likely intersex but have XY chromosones, gone through male puberty and has produced increased testosterone accordingly. Females typically produce 1/10 - 1/20th the amount so it's a massive difference especially when someone is punching you in the face. Even when East Germany were doping their athletes with testosterone it wasn't at that sort of levels. The record is massaged by losing 6 of their opening 9 fights so they've only lost 3 in 41. It's irrelevant really as they've gotten to where they are via competitive advantage and the question is whether they would be there without it not that the 38 women just need be as good as the 3 who triumphed. The main issue for me though is, and why trying to normalise it in the media is fucking insidious, is what happens in LA? The IBA did the sex tests but they're not involved in the Olympics as have been stripped of their status with the media keen to discredit them. The IOC, who run the boxing at the games, obviously didn't need sex tests but instead went with the far more stringent approach of checking what it said in their passport! That opens an obvious loophole to exploit for intersex but imagine what happens next games potentially with self ID.

Test was after the Tokyo Olympics so at that point nobody would have known plus I'd say more folk are aware of the issues now than they were 4 years ago. Another aspect of it is the world's attention really was elsewhere during those games - they just seemed to happen in a bit of a vacuum.

If you’re basing the argument based on performance enhancing biological factors, then someone tall shouldn't be allowed to compete in basketball, hormones drive all growth. So even if she had higher than average testosterone, if we start making judgements based on that, you would have to disqualify every single athlete for any physical advantage based on their genetics. Same as Michael Phelps, whose body produces less lactic acid than others. Should he have been banned from competing because of it?

I agree with you actually, I suppose the issue here is the sport involved. Lost to Phelps and there's no danger of physical harm, in boxing the consequences could be fatal.......

Singling out this one woman is just the tip of an iceberg. It must exist in every sport and we're now reaching a step nearer when all sportswomen are only allowed to compete in any sport provided they come within the range of testosterone levels of 'normal women'. It will be a nightmare to police this.
