Not even started yet but already some amazing stories.
Charlotte Dujardin kicked out because she was caught whipping her horse to make it dance. I'm sure she'd never done it before....
Steven van der Velde, Dutch beach volleyball player - convicted of raping a 12 year old British girl is being allowed to compete.
Shoko Miyata, captain of the Japanese gymnastics team sent home because she was caught smoking.
I'm sure there are plenty of other bonkers stories.

The incident happened four years ago, apparently. Methinks ze Germans haff been stirring ze Scheisse.... Of course horses are mistreated. They'd prefer not to run miles and jump fences carrying a human and they don't want to prance around a ring either, if they weren't coerced into doing so one way or another. Just another example of the kind of human arrogance that assumes that animals and the environment are on Earth for us to exploit however we like.

Looking forward to the 100m after watching 'Sprint' on Netflix. Decent documentary albeit a bit of a circle jerk for the American contingent. They sure do love themselves.
Men's should be between Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson, although don't rule out Letsile Tebogo, the smiling Botswanan. Only 21 years old but already shown massive promise and feel like he's been holding something back.

Hockey always worth a watch, shame broadcasters don't give it much airtime. Bronze for GB men I reckon, girls hopefully get to the last 4.

I'd call two of those sick rather than amazing. I can't believe that Australian/Dutch guy has been selected.
It's sad how many Ukrainian champions are missing because they've died thanks to Russia's invasion.
One amazing story is the British archer (Penny Healey), still in her teens, who took up archery because she saw the film Brave and thought it'd be cool to shoot arrows from a horse. She had to give up horseriding due to the cost but carried on with archery.

I was saying to an olympiad I thought that our selection policy was wrong and that if we had a young up and coming athlet in an event we had no competitor in and had a basic quotation time then we should have taken them for experience S they are out potentially champions of the future they agreed

I will probable follow
Handball Ladies 🇸🇪 Handball Men 🇸🇪 Pole vault Men 🇸🇪 (Armand Duplantis) Swimming Ladies 🇸🇪 (Sara Sjöström) Table tennis 🇸🇪 Wrestling Ladies 🇸🇪 Cross Country
IF they show it. This year Max have bought everything (I won't subscribe), but a limited amount will be shown at Eurosport and Kanal 5 here. Our National tv SVT only show a short 10-11 p.m Olympic program, but there's always the radio.
Sweden don't have a Swedish Men team in Basket, Football or Volleyball - but that's not strange, they have sunk on the ranking lists. But. We don't have the great Swedish Volleyball Ladies, Basketball Ladies or Football Ladies there either!! They should be there competing. This is only due to poooor National sports associations in Sweden, they don't offer a shit. I think Sweden have the poorest National Sports Associations in Europe. They don't get anything from the sky high taxes. All is very much amateur level. After all I'm amazed we can compete at all in some sports at least. Many of our Highest division football clubs are poorer than your League Two or National league clubs.

if only there was a weekly sports how on BBC1 where they show highlights of all these minority sports on a weekly basis so that you get invested in the swimming, biking, kayaking, rowing, ameuter boxing, triathlon, pentathlon etc etc. for the olympic cycle
you could put it on just after football focus sandwichwed between final score, you could even have a vidi printer type on the screen for the football scores through out. the rights wouldnt cost too much and would give these sports much needed exposure.
get a veteran sports presenter to host it, id say frank bough or david vine but i think they are passed. gaby Yorath would be perfect.
You could call it grandstand
