I'm not sure if anyone has replied to this yet, but Spenge is a town in Germany, presumably from where the person who's flag it is, is from. Rather than national flags with teams on, the German's seem to put their town / city on flags instead - there has been other flags during this tournament such as URBACH and HALLE/S that you will see at multiple neutral games as well as the Germany games. Whoever owns SPENGE has been going for years, tend to see it at a lot of games every tournament. I think that even those who've looked at this thread through a frosted window after 6 cans of Special Brew is now aware that SPENGE is a town in Germany. Regardless of origin, it's an inherently funny word (like 'Flaps' or 'Schlep') and this makes it all the more intriguing when regularly spotted on a banner at an international football tournament. SPENGE FOREVER. In my early 20s I met a lass from Switzerland, and when I said I was from Stoke on Trent she was like "wow you're from Stoke on Trent! I've always wanted to go there!"....I was like why on earth would you want to go to Stoke on Trent?? She said it's because she's always loved the name, it is so poetic! She spoke German, French, Czech, and English.... and I wonder, in which of those languages does "Stoke on Trent" sound poetic. I'm wondering if the people of Spenge would be similarly beguiled by our feelings about the name "Spenge"?

An already-furnished pick-up line from a Swedish lass, early 20's - yeah I bet she didn't get to see much of the town now did she?

And no she didn't...in fact come to think of it she never mentioned it again! Ah well, so much for Stoke on Trent being poetic. You have shattered my delusions!

So.
A little impromptu sweepstake.
Where/when do we think the next sighting will be?
I’m going next game, slightly to the right of the halfway line and thus, round about the time of the first throw, in on that side of the ground. Within the first 5 minutes.

More John Cooper Clarke than Wordsworth I suspect.

Definitely Spain v Germany but going to the left of the half-way line as you look at it, about half way down - I’m guessing tickets bang in the middle will be harder to get for the quarters and semis.

Far side, left side of the pitch, quite close to the corner flag.
I'm watching German TV build-up, so it's cheating, really.

The Olimpiastadion is SPENGE watch: hard mode.
There are flags, but behind a blue branding barrier.

No SPENGE again tonight. Think I’ll be more disappointed if it’s not there tomorrow than if England lose!

It was more about the ubiquitous Dutch VORTUM flag again last night. VORTUM is the Dutch SPENGE, for anyone wondering.
