Was apparently 40 degrees yesterday as well. Hope they find him but you can’t help fear the worst.

Strange. I like his programmes. Fear the worst tbh, left his phone etc It’s the fact he left his phone behind that leaves me fearing he has taken destiny into his own hands. But why would he? He has been really successful these last few years. I followed his low fat/high protein diet last year and lost half a stone in a few weeks.

None of which I’ve ever taken🤣 Hope he’s found safe and well

Try as I might I'm struggling to see any circumstances in which he isn't dead.

Ive actually been to Symi twice.Im affraid I agree with Gods previous post,Its a tiny rocky Island and his planned walk if he follwed the normal route would have taken him through the middle of the Island which is pretty exposed but safe-ish any other route and you would have to have your wits about you as its pretty treachorous. This is from a fella who ended up being surronded by the Greek Navy at gun point on Leros in the middle of an abandoned mental hostpital just as they were about to start a military maneuvers there. Sad news though.

He is 67 years old. My first thought was robbed and beaten, not necessarily dead, but severely wounded. Now I read they think he has fallen. He might not be dead then.
Aliens was my second immediate thought.

If that was the case then they should have found his shorts and/or shirt on the beach.

Fingers crossed he is found alive, if not then his body found.
Not sure I'd go off hiking on my own in 40'C and without my phone, and I'm fit for my age, it's a strange thing to do.
There does seem to be a few people going missing on Greek Islands over the last few years.

Aliens was my second immediate thought. I thought aliens too mate as they quite often seem a bit fat on the tele so maybe after a high protein low fat diet solution to bring home. Hope he's orate but can't see it unfortunately.

Yes he would have to walk through a tiny hamlet called pedi and past the football stadium. As its the high season I would have thought that at least one person would have seen him.

Something is amiss here, it's now reported "CCTV images have emerged showing TV doctor Michael Mosley(in Pedi) half an hour after he left a Greek beach and went missing" So...he walked back along the coastal path(possibly) and made it back to Pedi! But now he's vanished!? 🤔

There does seem to be a few people going missing on Greek Islands over the last few years. It's not really hiking. From my memory of the place the distances from St Nicholas to Pedi and on to Symi town are short and the paths both clear and well used - we'd walk it more than once a day if the mood took us. Rather not speculate other than to say that of all the places I've been to where it might be possible to completely disappear Symi would be nowhere near my Top 10.

I did think he must have made it back to the village, because his mobile phone was still at the hotel. So he might’ve gone to the hotel, put his phone down and then for whatever reason didn’t pick it up again when he let the room. Where he went after that is a mystery. But at least we know he didn’t fall into the sea.

I mean surely he hasn't been abducted...

How can a famous person simply vanish on a postage stamp sized island with the population of the village of Leycett?
It just seems utterly bizarre!

So I was correct he went the correct way and got to Pedi.Pedi is just over a mile from the outskirts of Chora the road is dead safe too,The only diversion of any note off the path/road is a castle which is a little tricky when you get there, the top of the ridge then drops down with gorgeous views over the bay and towards Chora..

Possibilities: Fall Medical emergency: heart attack, heat stroke, stroke Kidnapped Steven Fry-esque 'disappearance' following a break down (seems highly unlikely for such a stable seeming individual) Done a Reggie Perrin (equally unlikely)
Hope he's found ok

I guess his best/only hope is that he fell and broke a leg or something like that, but its 2.5 days on, how long can you live without water?

We used to say 2-3 days before. What if he just wants to be alone for a few days?
