I tentatively booked Penzance a few years back as it was much cheaper than other nearby resorts. It’s actually a great base with mousehole a pleasant 2 to 3 mile stroll away and a very short picturesque train journey to the far more expensive St Ives. It was a good decision for me. All the pubs and some restaurants seemed dog friendly although I don’t have a dog of my own

There's a good walk out to Stepper Point in Padstow area.
If in St Ives go across to Gwithian / Godrevy beaches- unsure how dog friendly they are though.

Go down a bit further to a village called Flushing right on Falmouth harbor and visit The Seven Stars. It's dog heaven in the village.
Or follow the Harbor round to a village called Mylor and head to Castaways, very pleasant dining and very dog friendly. The walk from Flushing to Mylor is beautiful.
If you want more bohemian vibes, Falmouth has some nice arty farty, hipster boozers these days too thanks to the Art University as well as a couple of more traditional pubs.

Cornwall, a jewel in the UK crown (apart from during school holidays when I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole).
If you’re thinking of doing Cornwall during school holidays go to the Pembrokeshire coast instead…….

Any ideas, which places to go?? I stayed in Looe last year at the Hannafore Point Hotel which had parking outside and although I didn't take the dog it would have been perfect if he'd been with me. Just on the quiet side of Looe with immediate access to the coastal paths to Talland Bay and Polperro.

Seven Stars is no longer there. Now some horrendous gentrified gastropub type place. Has led to significant local dissent. I live in Falmouth so know most of the pubs well. I’d probably go to Looe of the places mentioned in the OP. Padstow and St Ives are more chocolate box harbours and get rammed with tourists. Fowey a bit more old school and great view over to Polruan. Looe is more old school. My favourite areas are West Penwith and The Lizard because neither get overrun with tourists for the majority of the year.

Ahh that's tragic. The food was always pretty average but vibe there was so Cornish! Years ago the owner was a local fisherman and his wife (I was only about 10 but always felt she was pretty fit for a fisherman's wife!) Anyway, one evening he arrived home from a fishing trip early, he went upstairs to find her sleeping with another bloke. Classic stuff. Grabbed him out of bed naked and knocked him out with one punch. Gonner. He was an absolute monster.

I would absolutely rather have my dog in the restaurant than they, miserable fooker. Anyway, back on topic Penzance is the way to go and I can recommend Praa Sands if you're looking for a caravan/lodge.
