If we start like we did against Wednesday we will be buried in the first ten minutes. Got to start with conviction.

If they lose tonight ( losing 1-0 at present) they canโt get up automatically. Spot in playoffs guaranteed perhaps ( and they probably will) rest players v Stoke . Clutching at straws but may have a chance,

Soton are 4th in the form table just behind Bristol. We are 20th. Not now they're not. Nothing in it except one point. They won't want to get injuries for the play offs We will beat them

5-0 defeat on the road tonight. Russel Martin wonโt be happy at all with that so wonโt be surprised to see him completely change up their team on Saturday to give others a chance to prove themselves for the play offs, could be either good or bad for us?

We can expect a response to that.

interesting comment from their message board match thread v leicester.
The demise seemed to start when Bristol City did a high press against us. Other teams started doing it and put us under pressure but the way Leicester did it today really showed the floor in constantly playing it out from the back.
Really concerned about the play-offs now. Prior to tonight thought we'd put up a good show but that was so negative

Watching that tonight if we press them they are beatable. If we allow them time to pass it out from the back & spread it around then they could give us a hammering. Over to you SS.

Just a 1-0 would have done, thanks Leicester. Now you've royally pissed them off for Saturday. The old wounded animal trick.
Yeah, remind me not to send a nice, fat shit in an envelope to you in the post as a thank you...

If you sit back and respect them they can be dangerous and attack at will. Keep the high press on them & they'll definitely be susceptible. Good positive start from Stoke on Saturday and the natives may start getting restless early doors as well! We need to play like we did v WBA & Plymouth, as opposed to what we did away at Swansea & think we'll be fine..

In fact, I donโt think we ever lost to them. Better crop of players at Southampton but can you believe after last night, theyโve actually conceded more goals than us?

The Thompson-Cundle-Laurent midfield three is nailed on, Laurent and Cundle are our best pressers.
In fact I would imagine it will be the same XI with the possible exception being Rose for Wilmot....

Quite surprised at the level of anti-Martin vitriol in their fanbase, even before last night, for a team that may end up with 90 pts.

I watched them when they played Birmingham at home and they couldn't handle the way Birmingham pressed. They only got through when Brum eased off it.

Get stuck into Harwood-Bellis. Pipe of a player. Cupped his ears at the Boothen when Southampton won here this season, the dick. I'd put Tyrese up against him and Bednarek and get him to run the pair of gimps.

They should be resting key players for the playoffs in order to field their strongest team as they have very little chance of making top two. If Leeds win on Friday thats it - playoffs

I'd put Tyrese up against him and Bednarek and get him to run the pair of gimps. To be fair, Tyrese doesn't really strike fear into the hearts of centre backs so why is he going to start now? Press and play through them and don't try and get into messy physical battles. The more movement from Tyrese the better (a big ask I know!).

With them losng 5-0,it's all guess work which Southampton side will turn up on Sat.
If we can perform like we did v Plymouth,we will have a chance,it may come down to who scores 1st.
