Have to agree Lost on me Best rainy day meal. Corned beef and grated cheese on white. Microwave for about 30 seconds . Thai sauce, proper stuff No beans, am not 8 and don't wear National Health specs. Why not have a few Turkey Dinosaurs as well ? Actually that sounds ok A nice fried soda filled with eggs bacon and sausages. We all know that's a proper rainy day meal. Peasant fare.

Add Cumberland Sausages 👌 Wrong answer. Add fish fingers. Just add the fattiest most flavoursome foods and its a winner. Cheese and bacon, eggs, fish fingers, garlic butter, other cheese (roque fort, cheddar, etc.). whatever goes in the microwave. Just stick it in there (food wise). The fattier and greasier the better. ...and ketchup for the fishfingers.

An old Navy favourite in our house are cheesy, hammy, eggles…….. Toast slice of bread on one side and very lightly on the other side, on lightly toasted side place a slice of ham, fried or poached egg and thin slices or grated mature cheddar on top. Grill until cheese has melted over the egg. Secret is to ever so slightly undercook the egg before whacking under the hot grill. This prevents the egg yolk going hard whilst the cheese melts. Eat & enjoy

I used to love Mighty White bread. Can you still get it ?
Potato Waffles between 2 pieces of white, chilli powder, squidge down and enjoy
I don't care what anyone says , Breville sandwich makers are still the best sandwich.
Cheese and ham with Branston

Cheese and ham with Branston I have asked this before. Mighty White was insanely good. I think it got cancelled for being racist.

Foreign muck …..reminds me of my late dad he was very much a traditional meat & 2 veg type.. I was up seeing him for a few days and for dinner he decided he wanted salmon, new potatoes and salad. I popped up the coop and got the stuff a thought I’d get some fat free Italian salad dressing. So he sits at the table and I serve up dinner on a plate and put the salad dressing in front of him. "Whats this?" He asked, "just some Italian salad dressing dad, just sprinkle it over your salad leaves". His reply is still spoken of as legendary in our family….."bugger off I dunner want any of that foreign muck!"

My Mrs laughs at me when I tell her I probably didn't eat a non-British meal until I was maybe 16y/o. Vesta Curry was my first foray into foreign muck. I did prefer the Chicken Supreme though.

Some say ham first then cheese with egg on top whereas others say ham first then egg with cheese on top. This is my take….in 1990 I served on a small patrol ship around the Falklands on which the leading chef had once served on the Royal Yacht Britannia., His statement that Her Majesty demanded that her cheesy hammy eggles had ham then egg, poached of coarse, and cheese sprinkled on top then lightly grilled was good enough for me. …..so what is good for Lizzy is good for me

Very few meals are not improved with the addition of an eggy and beans on toast is not among them Beans on toast isn't something I'll make normally. But I recall when I was 16 and a friend of mine made us baked beans on toast, comprising of normal white bread, butter, and a 9p tin of baked beans from Aldi. It was divine. The melted butter melange with the beans was food of the gods.

I have been known to add up to eight extra condiments to the in-pan mix. Usually some combination of most or all of: - butter - salt - pepper - worcestershire sauce - chili sauce - chili flakes - dried oregano - dash of white vinegar Importantly they then have to be blasted on a high heat, stirring constantly to avoid stickage, so that they reduce down to an oozing consistency and the beans are nice and soft. Nothing worse than unseasoned, hard beans in a watery tomato sauce just heated through. I love a baked bean but you have to put a bit of effort in to reap the real rewards.

The last two are the only ones I haven’t tried, not sure about oregano but I’ll give it a whirl sometime. Minimum of butter and chilli flakes/sauce for me

We've had real shit weather here on the East Coast which I imagine is a typical day over there in England. Anyway, while driving home, I figured I'd try my hand at beans on toast, which I've never had. I swung by Publix to pick up some Heinz beans from their tiny UK food section. Got home, cut a couple slices from the sourdough loaf I made this last weekend and toasted them up. Heated the beans and put them on some buttered toast and threw a couple over easy eggs on there to boot. This was my dinner time meal (because why not?), but I will say it was pretty damn good. I will do this again. I normally poke fun at British cuisine, but well done on this food combo folks. Egg on top of beans? Fuck right off you fucking scumbag! Badger that’s the only way to do it. And they have to be very runny. Bravo to out overseas friend 👏👏👏

Minimum of butter and chilli flakes/sauce for me The vinegar isn't really for flavour, it's just an optional late addition to loosen it all up and stop the reduction process from making them too dry and sticky. It's quite an art
