All of the back four and keeper deserve credit today. Up against some of the best forwards in the division, they were outstanding.

Must be a coincidence 😎 Said something a couple of months ago where I don't particularly rate either of them and visually they don't look solid but for some reason we seem to concede less with them in the side.

If they cut out the dozy individual errors like they did today, they're a good pairing in this division.
As people have said, the back 5 were excellent today.

They have definitely built up a good partnership and they don't lack any spirit that is for sure - they have errors in them though and prone to switch-off at times - we probably need to add some quality in that position next year and some healthy competition.

The dozy errors are just too memorable, hard for us to look past and see the bigger picture. They do look better when they're not exposed by a Hoever blunder, overrun midfield or square peg at LB.

Both picked up early yellow cards that could of cost us!

They are the best central defensive partnership, it does help though when both full backs have good games, Hoever was superb today.

Being the best centre back partnership we have from the pool we have really isn't saying much though is it!?
Wilmot was never the best centre-back in the world, but after the back injury he's been an absolute liability. Clark was a desperation signing and has looked as much.
McNally and Rose both have regular mistakes in them as well, but are the best pairing, basically because they're not the other two.

They are decent when they can keep the attacking play in front of them and they hold a disciplined line; most of their troubles come when Rose chases into midfield and McNally drops 10 yards behind the redo of the defence.
Hull weren’t smart enough, or good enough, to drag our CBs out of position today. The last few minutes aside they were pretty dominant.

McNally in particular still makes some wrong choices but it's a decent pairing isn't it (?) How much would Burnley want for him? Not a ball player so presume Kompany won't use him all 3,inc Wilmot, will get better each year as centre backs make better decisions as they get older
Someone suggested Wilmot could play as the holding midfielder, that really should work too
100% need a 4th CB for next season Okagbue getting good reviews at Walsall, probably needs a year in league 1?

Rose in particular has cut out the gaffes we saw at the beginning of the season both defending the box better too Isn't there a stat showing Rose and McNally are second best pairing in the division? Having a reliable left back would help Stevens has been good when he's played but is just too injury prone

It’s a partnership that has real potential to get better. However, I don’t think Luke will be here next season. Despite his mistakes, I rate him very highly. He has always been better in a back three, but this season will have done him the world of good learning how to work as part of a CB pairing. So for that reason,I can actually see him going back to Burnley and being a regular in their side next season in the Championship. Harwood-Bellis is a similar ball-playing CB and he was Burnley’s regular CB last season.
