What is going on in this Coldplay performance, feels like I've tripped in another dimension. Are you descending from outer space?

For those who aren't aware, the Streets are absolutely stealing the show on the other stage. the best act so far. Ive had the good fortune to see The Streets a few times, and they never fail to put a smile on my face. Great live band. Turn the Page, a cert for Desert Island Discs when it comes around next in my dreams. Stole the show for me. I find Coldplay dull as dishwater.

I'm no fan of Coldplay's music but for me the whole production is breathtaking.
For those people there who are bang into them, they must be floating on air right now ...

Blimey, the Glastonbury audience looks like a pensioners club, I think I'd take the average age down and I'm basically past it! Have they sold out to the corporates and the monied? Where do the cool kids go these days? I can't imagine this would be there thing. And if that weren't bad enough 'a morning workout with Joe Wicks', it was a morning spliff in my day! Last night for Dua Lipa it was bring your primary child kid and smile do not bring grandparents . PS have you heard of her. Ha! Indeed I have heard of Dua Lipa, I am head over heels in love!

I feel your pain, it's the very worst of anthem rock, utterly pointless but hugely commercial, just hang tough, it will soon be over.

I know that i sound like such a miserable twat but I just can't get my head around them. I suppose it's not really about me. It's about the 80k currently absolutely loving it live... but yeah... Just can't get my head around any of it.

I get they're not everyone's favourite music genre but I'm a big fan of Coldplay & having seen them live, they are a great band & put on one awesome show for its fans.
They sell out everywhere they go in the world in literally minutes so they must be doing something right.
When I left Wembley Stadium after watching them in 2022 they definitely have a power that made everyone leave the concert uplifted. & for the time you're there and they're performing you really do feel the euphoric ambience they create and the world did seem a better place.
A mate of mine and a big Stokie who unfortunately became so ill after a stroke a few years ago now, he lost a large part of his vision & struggles to see now which means he can't attend Stoke matches anymore, goes to Coldplay concerts whenever he can as it's the one place he can absorb into the atmosphere & his ability to see doesn't impact his enjoyment of listening to his favourite band.
For him now, attending Coldplay is the buzz he had when he used to watch Stoke at the Vic & the Bet365.
Not that it's going to sway people's musical preferences & neither would we want it to, but for my mate who is a fellow Potter, Coldplay has become his new go to fix that we all still appreciate & perhaps take for granted when attending Stoke matches.
Sorry to digress but seemed quite a poignant moment to mention as I know how much power & emotion Coldplay really can project far and wide.

To give them credit, they've mastered the art of using the 'Millennial Whoop' in every goddamn song. But it's probably the reason I dislike them.

Not everybody’s cup of tea but Disclosure excellent. Outstanding. They're a mixed bag live and often do dj sets of their own music which is a bit wank when it's not billed as that. Top form tonight though. For a supposedly wank line up, it's been great viewing so far.

I’ve just had to sit through the Coldplay set with the Mrs and two friends who are over and big fans. Each to their own but how many people can you get on the stage and how many fireworks do you need to let off before we unpick the music? I’m still not sure what the great Michael J Fox was doing there or why Michael Eavis was wheeled on. I’d rather not think too much about any of it really and just go to bed.

Believe it or not many years ago whilst waiting for my current jobs starting date I helped a mate out in retail, anyway I got chatting to a girl and she told me she’d literally just returned from a world tour with Coldplay as their sound engineer and as a thank you Chris Martin had given her his guitar.

Just for the record Coldplay are absolutely dogshit. Bland miidle of the road uninteresting msuic and lyrics, depend entirely imagery.Massive unfair dominance of radio airwaves pleasing middle England. Five times Glaatonbury I mean cmon. Chris Martin is just an annoying prat,on a par with Bonio. Basically just a lame irritating group who shouldnt have reached the heights they have.. All my own opinions. On a lighter note I thought Yard Act were very good.

I love Coldplay, but Seamus Moore is the only act I’d spend my hard earned money to see live.
Here’s the great man performing at the recent Pints in a Field festival.
Yard Act? Never heard of them 🙂
