Loving The National but why do I keep thinking Keir Starmer when I look at the lead singer... It's Jurgen Klopp mate. It's a triumvirate of Starmer, Klopp and Jarvis Cocker.

I'd still like to know what the hell Michael J Fox was doing on stage with Coldplay and why anyone thought it was a good idea to do the video link with an obviously poorly Michael Eavis.

I just mean the headliners draw a massive tv audience and are not the main event for festival goers so put on a good show whether it’s stormzy, McCartney or the foos. Diversity should not. Be an issue. Massive complaints from some groups that last years headliners were male. It does not matter as long as you are good enough Pink Floyd - jobs a good un

Fuck diversity There is so much music on offer but The headliners should be massive acts that appeal to everyone. It's down to the people who run the festival to decide who should play. It's down to the punters to decide whether it is for them. It's a bit like moaning that there isn't enough disco music at Dowload.

Globally, Sza is a massive artist. However, when she was announced as a headliner for a UK festival I did think it was an odd choice, especially when you've got Little Simz on the same lineup if you wanted an "urban" act.

Another great Glastonbury - a very weak Pyramid lineup though outside a few notable exceptions. Had a knock on effect on crowds in other areas as it didnt keep people camped there all day

Another superb weekend at Glastonbury, my 3rd time in 5 years.
The crowds are absolutely ridiculous though and sadly, I was nearly involved/witnessed in a serious crush at around 4:00am Sunday morning in the Shangri La area.
Organisation was piss poor across the weekend, with acts playing on stages they shouldn't have been on. Avril Lavigne for example had no business being on the Other Stage, with a capacity of 65,000. The Sugababes also had no business on the even smaller West Holts stage.
I think the organisers have lost their grasp on the attendees tastes, especially in terms of dance acts and nostalgic pop acts.
Coldplay were absolutely terrible in my opinion. Saturday ended up being a bit of a damp squib for me.
Best acts of the weekend: Olivia Dean, Remi Wolf, Paul Heaton, LCD Soundsytem, Jungle, Fontaines DC, Bloc Party, Nia Archives, Justice, Romy. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see half as much as I'd have liked to.
P.S: hate to say this as well, as I have stuck up for them many a times on various threads on here, but the Scouse mob were absolutely vile all weekend. One of Carragher's lot actually tried to start an argument with me just before Coldplay as me and my mates were trying to get out of the crowd and get and get further up the hill. Not even in their way. She was going fucking mental over absolutely nothing. Really entitled, mob mentality which was sad to see. It would be easy for me to call Carragher a bell end but at the end of the day just because he's famous, he's got eyes on him. Plenty of all other people acting a clown there me included.

I'm quite enjoying watching Cyndi Lauper, never thought I'd say that😁 Even though she was abysmal I did watch all of it. Mesmerisingly shit. It was embarrassing, they turned the speakers down whilst there.

I have a neice who is a professional saxophonist studying at the RNCM in Manchester. When she first got accepted I was thoroughly excited both for her and for the insight it would give me into the music industry. Two years on I'm left cold. She's good and she'll make a living but she's being coached as a product rather than as an artist. Glastonbury is now what comes out at the other end - polished, marketable and souless. Cindi Lauper, Shania Twain and fucking Coldplay (again). I believe the Eavis's hearts are in the right place but probably have little leeway. I liked my festivals - if at all countercultural and chaotic, not just an event in the corporate socialite's summer diary along with Wimbledon and the Chelsea Flower show.

True, but there's loads more to Glastonbury than the main stages, which are often best avoided. Precisely. The headliners are always going to reflect the times and at the moment popular music is just a bland, eye candy product dreamed up by souless marketing teams. That isn't the fault of Glastonbury, it's a problem with the music industry. Having said that as you say there is still fresh, exciting, anarchic stuff going on all over the site away from the main stages most if which will never get mainstream exposure. Glastonbury is quite unique in that sense in that most festivals are either souless corporate events putting on bland corporate friendly acts or smallscale anarchic events putting on exciting stuff. Glastonbury puts on the bland corporate friendly acts to keep relevant with the current generation and keep the armchair viewers happy but it really does support a massive range of exciting, out there stuff and it really isn't the corporate event some people see to think it is due to the involvement of the BBC.
