You can't have too much Motown! It's the genre of music I hate the most. Pretty much ok with most, but Motown I conna stand in any guise. Are you sure? Marvin Gaye - What's Going On Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life Smokey Four Tops Temptations etc etc etc

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned the 1720s. JS Bach, Ant Vivaldi, Handel and the operas of Bononcini. Have some of that blaring out th’owd bagnola and you’ll be beating them off with a conductor’s baton.

Imo the 70's were the best, and worst, decade for music 90s definitely the most boring The 90s had amazing melodic death metal TBF.

Big shout out for the 1770s when Mozart was in his pomp! 😁 He was ok, but dunna start me on his mate Beethoven. Lazy cunt. He'd have sold a lot more if hes put his mind to it and not left stuff half done, if I'd have seen him I'd have told him so,

The 60's for me closely followed by the late 70's when punk/new wave happened.

Late 60' and 70's for me. Couldn't stand Motown or the "sound of Philadelphia" or Barry bleedin' White.

60s & 70s for me. The 80s and early 90s were spattered with decent stuff. But how the fuck Prince ever made it as a singer/song writer is beyond me, I have to turn radio off whenever I hear his screeching voice.

Every generation has its fair share of one off chart topping crap.

The 60s era was the most experimental with new instruments and basically anything went.In the 70s the music moved more towards the working class years as instrumnets became cheaper and more independant labels set up.The eighties always seemed to me to be in the shadow of the 70s and basically a watered down version. The 90 pushed on again with a lot more black artists in the UK and USA ,rap, hip hop,RnB and the emergance of Brit pop. After that imo there has been nothing of note. And I do still go to gigs and festivals, but theyre nothing like what they used to be (there are but few and far between).

He wrote a shed full of hit songs for other artists ,Im not a fan but he was a superb guitarist.

The most bestest music era was February 1978 to September 1984. It's closely followed by November 1993 to 9.30pm on August 11 1997.
Other than that music is all shit.

Born in 1980 and commute quite a bit with work so had a couple of 90s stations on the radio but it got very same same quite quickly. Flick now between 70's to 2000's (2010 lasted about 3 trips before writing that whole decade off). My ranking would be:
1970's: Not all of it is my taste but the sheer variety and talent is ridiculous! 1980's: Not quite as good as the 70s and started to become polluted with pop shit 1990's: Some good stuff but more limited in scope and talent than the previous two decaded 2000's: Pretty shit apart from the odd guilty banger 2010's: Really shit apart from the very odd guilty banger.
Can't decide if I'd put 1960's ahead of the 80s or just after.

Probably the 2010s for me. One Direction, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, JLS, Miles Cyrus, Arianna Grande, LadBaby, Jedward. And I'm only scratching the surface there too. You've posted some absolute arse gravy in your time but this must easily break to into your top 3 ever despite the immensely stiff competition
