Such sad news with the demise of another well known club with a lot of time in the EFL imminent.
The recent news in Germany with attempts to move on from the fabled "50+1" regime failing (following a live debate on national TV) shows how much fan influenced is valued over there- the fans feel much more a part of the club, that they really are the lifeblood, and valued.
This explains why the average attendances in BL2 are higher than the BL ( Schalkes average 60k when they're in a similar position to us is incredible) - fans know how much their clubs need them.
If only England / the rest of football could follow the German model.

My Second Club are Torquay United due to family links down in Torbay. Always enjoy trips to Plainmoor as a break from Stoke when fixtures/commitments allow. Very sad to see this, albeit they've been on the decline for some years now so guess it wasn't a major suprise, especially as TUFC are still operating as a full time professional club! A lot of friction between the fans, owner & manager at the moment especially as Torquays recent form is shocking and Gary Johnson who is at the helm has refused to leave & the club is slowly sinking without any proper leadership. Not sure where things will lead now this news has broken but can't see any improvements occurring any time soon! Very Sad. Hi also have family links as my cousin transferred to Torquay from the Vale, always been a Stoke fan myself but old school so no animosity to the Vale.

The money at the top has got out of control nowadays. Pretty sure I read Cristiano's net worth is 850M. That's one player. What on Earth is a single person going to do with all of that? More Bugattis I suppose.

Id be very worried as a Torquay supporter. The owner has proper pulled the rug from under the clubs feet with the manager following quickly. To be fair it's what the supporters wanted but not like this I don't think.I hope they find someone to take over sooner rather than later.I live in Torquay myself and although a stoke supporter do go watch them occasionally Did you know there are 3/4 Stoke supporters in Torquay..??? Hopefully I’ll be coming there myself soon.. Torquay have been my 2 club for 40 years and I followed them all over the place in the late 80s early 90s .. Good luck Torquay yeah there was a few getting on at newton abbot train station when we were playing Plymouth away in December.Even met an Australian bloke who was a Stoke supporter in Torquay.Chose Stoke as his team when he was younger.

Once again a massive shame for a great club. Some light again on some sleeping giants sat in non league with greedy owners.

Torquay United: Administration confirmed for National League South side - www.bbc.com/sport/football/68742377Seems more a formality of the situation as opposed to any further sanctions being applied..

Premier League needs scrapping and rejoined with Football League. 1 to 4, as before. With money making its way down to keep these leagues going.

Remember that Torquay away game when we lost 1-0. Junior Bent in his one and only game..Went on coach and stayed in Fawlty Towers .The girl on reception was Susan Barlow off Corrie at the time..She admitted it later at the disco..Spent happy time rearranging the lettering on a notice board...Lou Macari etc etc ..
Nice away trip get them back in League Division Four....

Rodney Jack was a great player for them back in the day. Still lives in Crewe near the park . Used to see him in Blockbuster video regularly. Wasn't Lee Sharpe there as well ?

Everyone abiding by the same rules not one for them and one for the rest of us! Good money does make it's way down. The problem is, even with that money some clubs don't control their finances with wages etc . The problem with Torquay is the owner.

Rodney Jack was a great player for them back in the day. Still lives in Crewe near the park . Used to see him in Blockbuster video regularly. Wasn't Lee Sharpe there as well ? Lee Sharpe was sure there for a time. There's a funny 'Under The Cosh' podcast where Lee describes Alex Ferguson basically travelling down to Torquay one night and unexpectedly almost Kidnapping him away ftom the south coast to Old Trafford. My auntie used to live opposite the old Torquay manager at the time Cyril Knowles & I remember him telling her that a player had been staying with him and his wife for a bit before he could get accommodation and that they had real high hopes for him. It later transpired that this was Lee Sharpe as Knowles told my auntie, that player we had high hopes for, well Manchester United have just signed him! Part of the reason TUFC has a always been my 2nd team, regular trips to the South West & my auntie living opposite the then manager. 'Nice One Cyril' my auntie still knows him by! Passed away from illness far to young did Cyril Knowles.

" We do not think fans are like cows who you milk. Football has got to be for everybody. That's the difference between us and England " Absolutely brilliant, just hope the money grabbing twats who run the game here take note, unfortunately I very much doubt it.
