I don't understand why we don't fill in the 2 open corners at the stadium. Even if it was just a semi permanent design to simply stop the howling wind coming in.
In my boredom at the Sheff Wed debacle I did notice at one point that all 4 corner flags were actually all blowing in different directions. I mean that must make playing lengthy passes very challenging. And might explain why our home games are so poor. Are we trying to play football in a mini cyclone when its windy? Its at least got to be a leveller for visiting teams and contributing to our terrible home record. A couple of million quid boarding it up somehow would surely be small beer if it were to make playing conditions better. And we might be a bit warmer as well 🥶

It wasn’t exactly an issue when we had Arnie, Shaq, and Bojan running rings around Champions League sides.
And there are dozens of other clubs that play at grounds with open corners who don’t have dire home records.

I really think that they should redevelop the ticket office and club shop and make the building bigger and taller so that it fills the corner in fully. It looks horrendous now on pictures and tv etc. swear last time I saw it there were some stepladders thrown up there alongside some buckets and loose footballs (on the roof in full view of cameras and fans). Amateur as fuck and was a total embarrassment tbh. Surely with the money they have they could update that area now after 26 years of being the very same. Better changing rooms, offices, club shop and ticket office, even a small cafe/bar that they could open on non match days or so many days a week. The club is so behind on various things it’s scary. Some of the car showrooms next door look in better nick and more modern than our HQ.

The various shit managers and players are to blame for that.

I think they did want to enclose it with windbreaks a few years ago but they wanted to have advertising on them and the council wouldn't allow it.

I mean for the corner by the boothen end you could actually just build a massive brick wall with some form of wind break on top of it. And yes the other corner you could add to the existing building to create the height required. Just seems daft that we don't when it would obviously bring benefits with it and make the fan experience that bit better. I'm certain there are many elder fans who won't go to home games in the bad weather as they can't handle the cold and sitting in a force 10 gale that circulates around the stadium. Maybe the powers that be should try sitting in the parts of the ground that kop it worst on a wet windy day and maybe they'd see it as more of a priority.

Has anyone considered a train station at the ground? Not in the last few days so far as I recall, so definitely worth resurrecting. I welcome a "fill in the corners" thread, as I use it as a proxy alarm to remind me to put out the bins.

At the moment, after just witnessing a game where there were barely 12,000 people in the ground on Wednesday (regardless of the official attendance), nothings going to happen. Long term, if we ever manage to awaken ourselves from this slumber, I’d like to see both corners used as safe standing areas. I’m not sure if we can build over that block where the club shop and changing rooms are, but they need revamping or moving anyway.

If I remember correctly, Jez Moxey (sorry everyone) told us all that the footings were in place for the time we wanted to make the stadium bigger. One suspects that those unused corner footings will remain permanently buried under the weight of soccernomics and realpolitik.

Should bulldoze the place and start again. When it was built the facilties, concourses and layout were basic at best and they tried to retrospectively fix it. The concourses are a joke in terms of space and access.
Maybe as a legacy PC and JC should flatten it and build a modern stadium with a retractable roof to not only keep us warm in the winter but as an indoor arena venue which would be better than the one that never materialised in hanley.

I think they did want to enclose it with windbreaks a few years ago but they wanted to have advertising on them and the council wouldn't allow it. Yep, the electronic advertising hoard facing the A50 was deemed too dangerous by the council, they've never been down the M6 past Walsall before.

Block 18 must be pretty grim on a cold wet and windy day, and that's before the football starts.

Not as bad as sat directly behind the goal in the boothen end when its raining. You get soaked to your skin especially if directly under the edge of the stadium roof. Unpleasant at best.

I've been emailing the club to create something we can all be proud of for the new fan zone but no response sadly. As a season ticket holder of 30 years plus I've got a perfect solution. which would also work for the two open corners to act as a windbreak as well as an artistic piece with Banks, Fuller, Shawcross images or to be fair any image the club wanted, in stainless steel. Some images here , forget the existing image this would be SCFC images. Attachment Deleted

Any new additions to the stadium should be built in the shape of Glen Whelan and Jon Walters.
Plus, the ground should be renamed 'The Tony Pulis Memorial Backwards-Looking Retards Arena'.
I've emailed the club about this several times but they haven't got back to me. Well, they have but only via correspondence containing legal threats.
