It’s easier to hide on social media than give an honest assessment in an interview in front of cameras. As team captain he should be front and centre of all the interviews otherwise what is the point of being captain? What else do they do? He should have the responsibility of explaining why we’re terrible along with the manager just like anyone else in a position of responsibility in life. Captaincy means nothing in football these days, it’s just an armband, occasionally in rainbow colours to show how socially woke they are Spot on Badge. Why thank you Vincent😉

Pro football is a totally different thing. Huge huge sacrifices in return for ridiculous pay packets. Stop treating them like they are a 40 hour a week 9 to 5er. It’s an absolute shit show - go on lads, you’ve just had a few weeks off before this horrendous run, now go and get smashed in the middle of it having lost the last three. Don’t forget your 10k will be in the bank on Friday. Keep defending shit though mate, you are the exact reason why we are what we are! Fans accepting it. Well done. I'm treating them like people, they're allowed to socialise as long as it doesn't interfere with playing/training. They don’t appear to do any training, so midweek break after every game wouldn’t be interfering with much.

Getting pulled away from the fans. If true he's an absolute idiot. Does he not understand that those fans travel all over the country spending thousands and thousands of pounds a season in a time when alot of people are struggling just to get by. He hasn't had a bad game today but if he thinks the team are going to get applauded off after yet another collapse he is deluded. Take the shit, walk off the pitch and use that to make sure you are all up for it the next game is the way to do it. He is though isn’t he. I mean it’s been documented on the other Laurent thread before that he isn’t the brightest tool in the box and walks around looking like an extra from a gangsta’ rap video. Ok, we don’t know if the fans are going ott and shouting personal or even racial abuse, but surely these footballers used to be fans going to games as well at some point in their lives and should understand their attitude and performances have stunk the house out for over a year now. Laurent is a simpleton who should never have come within a mile of the armband. Another reason to hand Neil his P45 the moment he sets foot back at the Bet365 and frog march him off the premises. I would imagine it was nothing more than 'fuck off Stoke', 'you're wank Stoke' etc. If so the fans pay their money and are entitled to voice their opinion. I personally just don't clap if they are toss but can understand people loosing their shit at the minute. As players and professionals they should take it on the chin and use it as fuel to up their game for the next performance to make sure they are getting clapped off after a win. When the captain is giving it the big one to his own fans what example does that set for the rest of the team.

We would be defiantly be in special measures.

When you’re under performing you should try and take corrective measures to rectify, and in this situation they should be working on their (many) weaknesses and if that means less socialising then do be it. Also if they went on holidays during the international break that’s unacceptable for me

Josh came over to the fans but didn’t say anything, kept staring at the ones shouting and kept walking closer until he got pulled away. people on twitter also saying he was at the train station and someone asked him about the loss and he said it’s ‘cool’ Any man abused by a crowd and stands up to them is the type of captain we need , but where were the rest of the team? They should of been climbing on top of the fence defending their own. That’s Stoke City style.

Just at services on the way back listening to some Laurent nonsense. He had a decent game, he was gutted came over to clap fans first at the Captain and the team were given dogs abuse. He went over to listen, but was then moved away. He said nothing of note, the snowflakes giving him shit need a look at themselves,Particularly those who then moan the others didn’t come over. Gooch got abuse too. Not a happy fan after two losses in a week, games I’ve travelled too as well. Turning on the players right at the end was ott. Boo, don’t clap let them know. But you’re not fit to wear the shirt, really!? You can’t post comments like that just because you travelled all the way to Plymouth, attended the game and actually witnessed what happened.

I thought Laurent was average, at best. Plymouth’s midfield had acres of space to receive the ball and ran through our midfield at will at times. Not that he was the only one but he made it easy for them, standing off too far and ambling around. Basically he doesn’t seem to read the game when he’s off the ball and does little with it when he’s got it.
As I said though, he’s not the only one so perhaps it’s down to the coaching, game plan, etc and the Neil effect.

The thing that pisses me off the most about this situation is that the club asked (and built it up) for the fans to reset and be positive at the start of the season. In the face of a decade of utter shite and the recent absolute dirge seasons in the championship, we got on board (and still are) and backed them to the hilt. Week in week out picking ourselves up, over 20k at home, supporting this utter bollocks. It’s infuriating!
It’s a fucking disgrace what’s going on, and every fan that turns up, away, home or parts with any money to follow this club deserves adulation as basically we are dog rough shite right now.
The team at the top of the club, pay attention, act accordingly as you don’t deserve the Stoke City fans right now.

But you’re not fit to wear the shirt, really!? I was right by the Laurent incident and can confirm what is described in the first 2 paragraphs is factually correct. Fair play to the guy for coming up to the fans and taking the abuse whilst most of the rest of them, particularly AN, couldn’t get down the tunnel fast enough. Don’t agree with the third paragraph at all though. The fans who travelled down to Plymouth had every right to tell the players exact what they thought of them. I agree, they most definitely have the right, it’s the vitriol though, almost hate! Aimed at all the players, “the you’re not fit to wear the shirt when most of them were as gutted as us” Some of the comments on the way out varying from. We’ve travelled all this way and they haven’t come over to clap us, to I don’t want them feckin clapping me. The group I was with were all pissed off and we then had to meet up with Plymouth friends.

We really should be showing support for our captain and leader.
Can I suggest a new song for him..
We got Josh Laurent, Always banging them in! We got Josh Laurent, Our captain leading our men! Nobody likes us but to do is to dare, Statistically we're shit but we don't care!
To the tune by UB40, 1 in 10! Quite appropriate! 😏🤪

Some of those are an embarrassment to our feckin club too and don’t deserve to be considered fans. If your hate and vitriol towards the players and club is such, feck off and go somewhere else on a Saturday. It’ll be good for your health and those that have to listen to your bollocks. I’m pissed off with the loss I’m no fan of Neil, never have been, the defence fiasco is beyond a joke.

This isn't the first time he's had something to say to the fans is it?
This looks like a but of a clucas moment, anyone else get this impression?
I mean, he could have just ignored it, gone down the tunnel and told his team mates that that kind of performance isn't good enough and a club like Stoke with ambition for the premier League needs more commitment and drive... Instead he decided to go to the fans, and social media. I don't think players who lose on a continuous basis have any right what do ever to confront fans frustrations. They didn't give their all yet again, and it was shit to watch. He is never ever going to be a premier League player with his attitude and he's certainly not captain material. Where are Ricky's pillars of togetherness etc? I imagine a Roy Keane type captain would have been willing to piss off an entire dressing room after such performances just because every game you would see 150% given. Any less isn't acceptable.
For some reason we seem sign players who are somehow feel a bit 'special' or entitled, even though they haven't shown anything. Stoke fans really don't ask for much, history even shows that. Commitment gets you really far in this shit league too. Players who 'work ard' generally stand out, either for being absolutely shit and wasteful (but still trying), or end up with 27 assists like Lawrence, or best defender like Souttar, or goals and effort like (goarnnn) John.
Even managers who make effort stand out. Our guy doesn't look like he makes any effort or gives a shit, that's a massive concern. Fucking holidays in Dubai, what the fuck. Get them running up longton (or some local) bank or through the city.

It wasn’t personal or racial mate, not at all. Just the usual that players get after such an inept performance. Fans telling them that they are shit, useless etc. The blokes an absolute tool, worst captain I’ve seen in my 31 years of supporting that’s for sure. Vidigal was giving it the biggun too, there’s a pic of him being pushed back by a steward. A relegation battle should be fun with these pricks that’s for sure. Hold on tight folks. Not personal then? What qualifies him as the worst captain in 31 years?

The fans expect a certain level of quality after what, 120m spend in what is a shit league. They and everyone in the football world has the right to question what the fuck is going on at the club (pardon my french). This whole experimenting thing is also ridiculous, as if we are trying to reinvent the wheel. Funding the club with experts is the only way to succeed in football, not ask the manager to run the entire club (hiring yes men in essential roles). Fans have been very very very patient. And still are. We are apathetic, but a minority voice their frustrations. They do that at man United games, at Portsmouth games, everywhere they are unhappy with the direction or lack of progress of the club.

They do that at man United games, at Portsmouth games, everywhere they are unhappy with the direction or lack of progress of the club. My impression is that we have a lot of negative fans, who are quite vocal and to my mind very vocal and noticeable. I’ve never understood laying into players during a game - but I see this a lot at Stoke, more so than other grounds - perhaps I just notice it more at our games but that’s my impression. I don’t think it’s very helpful and if I was a player with no links to the club I don’t think it’s a place I’d want to come and play. I don’t really know if players read comments on social media - but if they do, some of the comments I’ve seen are really out there. Calling people ‘c**ts’ or saying stuff like they should never have been born etc don’t help, we go way OTT (remember Kyle ‘Stillborne for example). I know it happens everywhere but it does appear to me to be a bigger problem than it is elsewhere. Again, just my impression based on what I see and read
