So much to like about that performance.
Hard to recall the last time I felt like we forced a close game down the path we wanted it to go in terms of tactics and tempo.
1st half full tilt, end to end, then second half turned it really bitty, did all the horrible stuff well. Frustrated them, consistently drew silly fouls.
Just small stuff like Leris, knowing he was offside, following the ball and then touching it right on the bye line to concede and offside deep in their territory, rather than attempting to touch it earlier and have the free kick 15 yards higher, or letting it go for a goal kick.

In fact, I’m sure we were winning 1-0 at the Riverside under MON, they had a little breakaway and out of nowhere, scored. Then scored again a couple of minutes later. Those kinds of tackles help win games. |

I think today showed we have a really competitive squad, still players to return, I do worry for Jun-ho, new country and not really part of it, I hope he comes good, same with Junior.

Off the Boro forum
Neil had Carrick sussed last season and he did again this afternoon. The injuries haven't helped us but Stoke had their own absences yet were in our faces from the off and prevented us from the composed passing it out from the back, making us nervy and panicky. In the opening stages we kept giving the ball away and couldn't find a Red shirt for the Yellow shirts swarming all over us and intercepting passes.
There are times when you need a plan B but we still kept passing it around and passing ourselves into pressure repeatedly in that opening spell. Going two goals down effectively meant job done for Stoke and we had nothing in our kitbag to unlock them with. Even with Hackney and McGree fit I don't think we would have won that because tactically the opposition Manager spanked us and we couldn't change things or mix it up. Neil done his homework and we couldn't counter it, changes needed to be made much earlier or at Half time as a minimum.
Just hope we can shrug this off, move on and doesn't become the new norm.

I thought it was a brilliant away performance today from the lads. Leris was my man of the match but they all did themselves proud. Well done to the gaffer aswell who seems to be turning it around. Get in Stoke and to all the travelling fans a safe trip home.

Arguably our best result of the last 3 games. Coming up against the most in-form team in the league, away from home, and with a keeper who hasn't started a league game all season.
Not bad.

Superb performance Stoke, this is just the type of performance we’ve been crying out for, can’t fault any of them & Bonham secure when called upon, bearing in mind leris & habs had superb chances to double our score, terrific, can enjoy my pint tonight.
