I think it’s a pathetic view, no offence to Malcolm, but if the club have done it because of this reason it’s a joke. People look to be offended by things all the time now. Oh well, I’ll never moan again about it being over sung ever again. Belt it out every 5 minutes if that’s the case. We can all choose to be offended by something, shall we all bombard the club with things we’re offended by? Maybe parents will ask for all visiting players to be on their best behaviour as well so we don’t all sing wanker wanker at them? It’s coming Just to clarify, I am not a spokesman for the Club. Their reasons are a matter to be discussed with them. Whatever their reasons are, I personally think it's the right decision for the reasons I said. I don't think that the lyrics, either of the original or our version are appropriate or pleasant, particularly at a time when there is great concern about both knife crime and sexual violence against women. That's just my personal view. Of course I don't think the very large majority of those singing it take those words seriously or think about them, but I think it's just silly to have an anthem which some supporters or potential supporters, probably mainly women and parents, are uncomfortable with, when we are trying to retain all supporters, attract new stokies from the widest possible demographic and create an atmosphere which all fans can enjoy and contribute to. it’s just a song , you need get over it and realise some of us actually like it , the cancel culture in this country are pathetic

Good left winger was the Quirkster . We often had to get him out of detention when we had a game. A ringer for Bob Geldof Always gonna be a left winger if he looked like Geldof. Couldn’t see him on the right wing anyway.

Maybe you need to get over it? I think that's right. The Club stopped playing it before games and renamed "Delilah's" as "Ricardos". I think they were both correct decisions for the reasons I said. But there is nothing to stop sections of the crowd singing it. Personally I hope we don't because I don't want other Stokies to feel uncomfortable ( for reasons which I understand). It's not about a "cancel culture" (whatever that is) but about respect for fellow stokies and, as I said, attracting and retaining as many fans as possible. But for the record, I don't think this is the most important issue at Stoke or in wider football, by a long chalk !

I know that because I have been copied in wearing my FSA hat. Only a couple - but of course there may well have been more who wouldn't think of copying the FSA in. I can understand where they are coming from and I don't think that parents or women taking that view represents a "serious problem" or indeed a "problem" at all -just as for the record I don't think singing Delilah is the biggest problem in football, far from it. I'm going to bow out now, because there is a danger of getting this out of proportion. We only got into it as part of a much wider and more important discussion about the matchday experience from the recent, excellent Fans Assembly.

I am absolutely amazed and disgusted that a decision the silence and let’s have it right, cancel the playing or even the name Delilah from being associated with our club.
Ever likely the club have stayed quiet on this and not made a comment. So basically we’ve had some lefty woke headed women email the club to get it banned? Now if they are Stoke fans , I bet Tristram gets out of his seat to shout the referees a wanker after kick off but his mum is offended by the lyrics of Delilah which he can sing with his mates at school during the week anyway.
Or have the club actually checked they are Stoke female fans that complained, because I now remember something at the time now on the news with people trying get Delilah banned everywhere. Are we sure they weren’t actors working for C4? 😜
Here’s me thinking the club actually listened to some on here a while ago saying we should stop playing it and let our fans generate our own atmosphere before kick off, yeh like that has worked!
The players when we got promoted singing it alongside Peter Coates in the upper tier, 10 years in the prem belting it out to 30k every week. Other fans booing it because they know it’s our song, and because 2 women have emailed the club it’s banned. Unbelievable Jeff.
I thought it was overdone too many times a game. Now I hope it’s sung all the time loud and proud

Because I mentioned earlier that Delilah should be brought back being played just before kick off as when we get 25k plus down there and things are going well, it doesn’t half get the place rocking on kick off and set the tone. Since it was ‘banned’ we’ve had a flat pre kick off atmosphere, no singing, the players names read out with the odd cheer when you get to a popular player, and a countdown to kick off on a stoke scoreboard where the only raise of volume before kick off iis when the scoreboard says go on stoke. It’s only since then that it seems it’s because a couple of female ‘maybe, maybe not’ fans have emailed the club thus getting it cancelled . Thanks Stoke for giving in to the cancel culture

I remember a time when they used to turn all music off 15 minutes before kick off and let the fans make there own atmosphere.

If the good times did come back this season and we’re getting big crowds again, for me it doesn’t half sound good if everyone is belting this out to not only boost our players, but to scare the shit out of the opposition.

For me I just think it is a song we have had for years and passed its sell by date. It is getting a bit boring, only of course my opinion. Trouble is we no longer seem to have the innovators within the supporters for new songs There always used to be but not for some time now.

I honestly didn't know that the Delilah's name-change was because of this, until I read it here. What a situation the Club has put itself into. Purely woke.
