Late in the game when Mcnally was taken out of position and their striker ran him like he wasn't there, I just couldn't believe how rubbish he is. Why did we gamble the season on these two jokers, rose and mcnally. They're both wank, absolutely fucking gutless pair of idiots And they both had very good seasons last season playing for Coventry who were penalties away from getting promoted to the Premier League. I’m mystified as to why they would then come to us and look so poor. Because they didn’t play together mate. They variously partnered Kyle MacFadzean who is a very limited footballer but a big unpretentious lump of a blood and thunder centre back and exactly what we needed/need.

I’m not saying he’d make them play any better but he would complement one of them and do the dirty ‘blood and thunder’ things our centre halves are all incapable of doing but allow them to do what they do reasonably well without all the rough and tumble. I suspect by definition he is a leader as well as that type of player tends to be.

If we did have a brick shit house of a centre half, we just know for some reason Refs will just love to give him a Red card.

We really don't need a big lump of a centre half whose one strength is to head it miles ffs. You don't have to look at the top of the Premier league to see none of the top clubs have one, successful championship sides don't have them. The last time we tried it we signed Aiden Flint and he was the archetypal 'dominant centre back'.

We’ve only conceded 9 goals in 7 games, for context Ipswich in 2nd have conceded 10 & Norwich in sixth have conceded 16.
The defence is not the issue, the fact we’ve scored 7 goals in 7 games is the issue considering 4 of those were against Rotherham.

Agreed with it and liked it. After watching Rose, Mcnally and Wilmot today I've changed my mind.

None of the three can defend.
How Wilmot gets away with his displays from last season and then this is beyond me.

The midfield doesn't help neither when players are allowed to run straight at our defence. It's like the same problems man UTD have, shit defence protected my annoymous midfield

The OP is right we need a strong and dominant centre half - and that doesn't mean a big lump.
At the moment the defence lacks that player. I think McNally, Rose and Wimott could be ok with a leader running the show in but between them they haven't got it and unless they click as a unit we are going to struggle to get the results the rest of the squad is capable of delivering. For me they are definitely the weak link at the moment.

Wilmott gets away with it, people rate him because a few times a game he pings a diagonal and it lands…..every other pass he makes is out of play or to the opposition. And he’s a crap defender. I don’t doubt for one minute he isn’t trying his hardest, that’s a different debate. But he really is crap

If we had a decent defence, with us not been big scorers, we could get away with 1-0 wins, but at the moment we have to score at least 2 because we can't keep clean sheets.
Do we have any decent defenders in the the under 21s, If not, why not?

Do we have any decent defenders in the the under 21s, If not, why not? Because who comes through from the under 21s is a bit of a lottery - most don't make it. We got lucky with Souttar and Collins, it just doesn't happen very often.

The more I think about it, the more it is just unbelievably negligent the situation we’ve found ourselves in with the CB position.
AN, or whomever’s fault it is, should be sacked for this alone.
3 senior CBs, who are all very similar. Bang average.
It’s so poor.
Add the LB situation in as well. It’s ridiculous.

The thing is I think with a decent centre half, left back and striker we could have a pretty good squad and team! Will he make it there though?

What a sad state of affairs.
In my opinion Rose is making Liam Lindsay look like Paolo Maldini and McNally is making Batth look like Franco Baresi
As sad as it is and I can't believe I'm saying this, I'd sign Phil Jones and Danny Rose. At least each knows how to defend and organise as their both free agents
