Do people actually think Martin has been picking the team? Nobody knows for sure but of all those rumours flying around that one was the most plausible. But we will never know if it was true or not. Clearly he wasn't liked by a lot of people though and his sacking was long overdue It's pretty obvious the rumours were bullshit, not a chance he's been having any say in the 11 being picked for matches.

Can I ask, what makes you think that? Going off purely his football management side he'd be awful, he had a set way of playing and didn't sign the right type of players for it (putting aside their ability), that doesn't scream out that he'd be capable of coming up with a long term strategy and implementing it properly. That statement alone should damn the rest of your comment. Personally,I think he would be a very good appointment, if we could get him. Working in very difficult circumstances he got 60 and 62 pts in his 2 seasons. Brought on young players like Souttar and Collins and brought in players like Philogene, Harwood Bellis and Doughty among others. He was an intelligent man which might prevent him from coming back. We need someone like him who knows about football not some spoofer. Hodgson would be great if we could get him. Some people on here think it is very easy to get a good DOF. Look at the way Brighton's staff are being targeted by the big clubs who aren't happy with the people they already have. One must assume that they made the wrong appointment, the last time they signed one. We now have Superstar Players and Managers, but how many DOF could you name? No it shouldn't, he wanted to play with wingbacks and one up front and didn't sign the type of players that could play it. Edu seems to be doing a good job at Arsenal tbf but tbh im not the biggest fan of the set up, it leaves it ambiguous as to where the blame lies, or at least it seems to in our version.

You're telling me you think that any other ex-pro, people would be looking at someone who did 6 months at Fleetwood Town and going "Yeah, that's the kind of experience we're after. Let's have some of that" Genuinely? If that ex-pro had spent half of his career in the Premier League and had more than 50 caps for his country, yes I think people would generally be willing to give them a chance for an interim appointment like this. I'd rather someone with solid experience not someone picked because he used to play for the club, but as it's interim so it hopefully won't really matter.

About time. The more control we can give Schuey, the better. Stoke need to learn snake oil salesmen are toxic. From Moxey to Martin - we need to learn. Only SS can be leader. So long as SJW is acting as a consultant/supporter of SS then this should work fine. The next essential move is to rename SS’s job as manager.

Does anyone have any ideas on who we could likely bring in during the summer to be our sporting/technical director? I had a quick google and saw there was a guy called Paul Mitchell who was in place at Spurs when Poch was there and has recently left Monaco. Couple of other interesting names were Michael Edwards who's recently been at Liverpool but left over a year ago (doubt he'd have any interest) or maybe someone like Ralf Rangnick!

It looked like he came here with a point to prove and he most definitely succeeded in proving it.

Simon King has transformed our off-the-field antics from a commercial perspective and engagement with the fanbase. I'm not sure I'd be looking to get rid of him. Another shyster from the five pillars of bullshit and part of the toxic culture at the club that is clearly spilling on to the pitch. Just like Martin and Dublin. We are one of the richest clubs in the world so should be able to attract the best people into the best positions. Walters is ok in the interim but we can’t be blinded by his former links to the job. We need to go out and get the absolute best that’s willing to come. If that’s him then fine but does he have the relevant skills and knowledge for such an important post? are you nuts , Simon King as done a fantastic job so far , go on do tell what’s he supposed to have done wrong

MON made the best use of the players available to him and made some average players look better than they were. Hence we were able to get actual fees for players, something almost unknown in this club. What about Martin O Neill for DOF.

I don't think you understand what Simon King's role entails. Yes I totally understand his role, and from what someone who used to work at the Club told me, he is cut from the same cloth as Martin. From the moment those two walked into the Club, they have overseen a toxic culture where anyone who isn’t a yes person is fecked off pretty sharpish. They both peddle the five pillars of bullshit which seduced the board into appointing them without the proper skills required. The only difference is one has been found out sooner as it’s more obvious. Absolute bollocks 😅

If he was still in charge here it may be boring, but we would already be safe. He could add a great deal of nouse while a younger manager introduces new themes to the play.
