Game at a time isn't it at this stage but that international break gives us 2 weeks to nurse players closer to fitness Or appoint QSF I'd rather stick with Alexis neilsson

Won one finally has he? He needs to build on this now, his brief history with us suggests he won’t but let’s see. For me his position remains just as precarious as it was before the game started, and that’s in the eyes of the powers that be not just myself, they will have been expecting a lot more than this. "I'm glad this is happening"... You can read, well done. This changes nothing.

I’m delighted we won but as things stand it changes very little and I still think, with great sadness, he’s going to have to go. His record here is shocking. One win (after initial appalling capitulation) doesn’t alter that.
If we go on and win the next few games I may feel differently. I genuinely hope that’s the case. I was excited for this window and really believed it would show signs of working but mostly there’s been the opposite.
Here’s hoping I have to eat humble pie in a few weeks when we’re chasing the top spots.

IMO he has got to start trusting the youngsters and sort out his best midfield. Lowe, Vidigal, Junho, Junior and Tezgel are all our players the near future and need to be played.

Is this the reason we signed Wesley on a one year deal so as not to block Lowes and Tezgels future? Similar with Johnson and Junho? Maybe same with Junior and Hoever. Think Sidibe has been a surprise.

I'd add a few words to the end of that sentence. Needs to be played.....at the right time. Ease players in. If they are playing a blinder, fine keep him in, but you can't just throw them all in and hope for the best. Fergie was the master at it.

I also want him to do well.
He's been instrumental in bringing about change in the way the club is run and recruits players ,that has been needed for a long time. He's said we can't carry on doing things in the same way if it is not working, let's make changes, and I applaud him for that .
He had 18/19/20 year olds lowe/junior/ junho on the pitch for a crunch match at Bristol city and I applaud him for that.
He's watched Delap / Gayle/ Ty and others he didn't sign , miss an astonishing amount of gilt edged clear cut chances.
But a Stoke defence, containing several new players but no idea how to defend corner kicks and set pieces in August, is still clueless as how to defend a set piece in October.
He can't be spending 2 months on the training ground, making no progress whatsoever in being able to defend set pieces, when he is playing 2 games a week in the championship.
Little wonder , he has lost a similar amount of games to Nathan Jones as Stoke boss ! A sacking offence in itself!
V Huddersfield, his defence lined up on the 18 yard line for a free kick 45 yards out! Madness! By the time a Stoke or Huddersfield player lands a head on it, the ball will have spent so long in the air, all the players are going to be somewhere between Stoke's penalty spot and six yard line and all facing Stoke's goal . We could have lined up 35 yards out, we only have to be ten yards from the ball .
Really hope he can turn it around.
But it is going to require a transformation in our defensive play , for him to pull that off.

Also I fully expect us to beat a Russell Martin side.

I’m reading very little into this win, Neil started with the wrong side, a team lacking mobility and energy and Laurent and Rose. That should be enough to consign him to the dustbin of history. Then he got lucky, Gooch got injured and he brought on Junior who had an immediate impact.
Neil then brought Lowe on after 65 minutes, so I’ll give him that and then he got lucky, Rose had to go off and he brought McNally on who was immeasurably better.
two late subs, who should have been on from the start got us over the line, so he gets a little credit there though it is well and truly wiped out by keeping the woeful Laurent on.
So the jury is still well and truly out, if he learns from yesterday I will give him credit, let’s wait and see and enjoy these unexpected 3 points.

Leicester away looks tough for any side Saints on Tuesday is a big game, Leicester isn't It's becoming clear that Leicester are the class of the division and will be very tough. They seem to score 4 every week so our fragile defence could be in for a torrid time. Other than that, it's typical Championship, anyone can win or lose to anyone. Great come back win yesterday but we need to stop giving away goals at an alarming rate.

I do think that some posters have painted themselves into a corner way too soon. Even after yesterday, it’s “yeah, but…” like they are just waiting for the next thing to go wrong so they can get on his case again. A win on Tuesday and it’s a perfectly fine start to the season really. The problem is when you make up your minds so early you’re then too pig headed to just say “fair enough”. Enjoy a win and see where we are after Tuesday. Next Saturday will be a tough one but if we can go into it 6/6 points then you just never know.
Try and enjoy it. We aren’t going to get relegated and we might not win all the time, but I’m still confident these players are a fuckload better than anything we’ve had since relegation.

Yesterday was a brilliant day and I hope we win again on Tuesday.

He’s simply got to sort that pitiful defence out. If he doesn’t he’ll be gone by Christmas if not before. And I hope he does sort it.
Great win yesterday. Fantastic. But continue defending like we are and he’ll be out of a job.

If you’re waiting for Leicester to stick the boot in again then you must have something really against Neil. Chances are we will lose and the defence might look shit, but Leicester have made pretty much everyone look shit so far. Southampton is the game that shows where we are more, and even they look to have turned a corner. I fancy a result though, our tails will be up and they aren’t good defensively.

I think a decent draw, with a good performance, v Soton, and a non-heavy defeat to Leicester, would be my minimum threshold for getting to the break as manager. The hope then would be that Stevens and a couple of forwards return to kick us on. I loved yesterday’s win but we are still in a mess and it’s his mess. But I don’t think anyone slating him wants him to fail. We all want Stoke to do well, and important to remember this.
PS he won’t be sacked even if we lose both I reckon.
