Interested in why you say that. Plenty of managers have come back from worse and done well. I'm not taking sides as such just wondering what your evidence is to say that. I'd be surprised if anyone has turned it around after a first 59 games at a club like this, especially with no real sign that he's developing any kind of identity or knows how he wants us to play. Once you lose the fans, you're toast. And he's a very long way down that road. Managers don't normally last this long with a record like that unless there's an additional factor in the background - in this case it's the fact Coates has been after him for years, paid £1m+ in compensation and seemed to view him as some sort of guaranteed solid operator or modern-day Macari. But this team is showing absolutely none of the qualities that we were told were in Alex Neil teams. Once you get this far into a managerial spell with this record, the apathy is almost tangible. What has he done to give anyone the idea that he can turn the ship around? He can't dine out on that run of 5 games in March, and those 3 games at the end of October for much longer surely? Apart from a couple of other away games when he first came in (Preston and Hull spring to mind), we've been largely abject in his 16 months at the helm, and have lost 15 of our last 26 league games. He's the 6th longest-serving manager in the division, and must be in the top few in terms of games managed. He's not some young kid. He's an experienced operator who is failing badly. It's normally the sack for that kind of record at any level. Hmmmm - you were doing ok until I read your post on other managers and you mentioned you'd like Scot Parker - really?

I just said I wouldn't burn my season card if he was appointed. He wouldn't be top of my list, but would think he'll get another decent Champ job in the next few months. He probably deserves a bit more respect than he gets as a former footballer of the year and and 2-times promotion-winning manager from the Championship (admittedly with parachute teams). He seems to be a bit of a joke figure for some reason, whereas Lampard is still being linked with jobs - I'm guessing it's the cardigans!

Prefer Parker to Lampard Parker's record in this country is pretty damn good in all fairness. He had a 50% win rate at Bournemouth, and the PL mess at Fulham still saw him at 35% there. How much of that is down to parachute money and borderline PL squads we don't know, and you'd probably guess he'd want to stay down south, but there are definitely worse options out there for sure.

Great cardigans and football ability are not a substitute for managerial intelligence - I think he got lucky with a very good squad

Sacked by midday or in charge for Saturday.
If he’s given the Sheff Wed and Swansea home games 4 points have to be an absolute minimum……

If he’s given the Sheff Wed and Swansea home games 4 points have to be an absolute minimum…… I hate this notion of they have to win the next game or get x points from next 2/3. What happens when they do that, then lose the next 5. You're just wasting time on a busted flush. Get him fucking gone.

Beat two of the worst teams in the division and everything is OK.... it clearly isn't. Time to go.

What’s our excuses for not winning both, especially home games. He’s failed to win in the last 5 losing 3. 10 losses already this season Unfortunately, he’s not deserved any slack.

If he’s given the Sheff Wed and Swansea home games 4 points have to be an absolute minimum…… At a club that is run properly he would have been gone in the summer after his pathetic end to the season. At a sloppy club he would have been sacked a few weeks ago. At a completely incompetent club he will be given the next two home games. At a club that has completely gone he will be given till January and beyond.

He ain't going anywhere, we all know it, we can't get rid, we can't afford to after investing so much, it's crazy , we are stuck with him.

Any ITK's actually heard even a hint that the cogs may be in motion for a potential AN exit?

There was no noise before the MON sacking.
Then on a quiet Thursday morning, with no warning, out came the axe.

He’ll be given till after Christmas mark my words. I think they will then get rid IF results have not improved. Sheff weds Swansea West Brom Milwall Brum Watford I reckon a minimum he needs is 10 points. Depressing at the moment being a Stoke fan. How are we stuck in the bloody cycle once again.

If JC looks at the Oatcake he would surely realise AN has alienated the vast majority of us fans and they want him gone. That usually means the end of the road for most football managers.

20th in the league after 15 months and he is still here, where's the ambition, process, future planning and decisive decision making from this club.
They promised us root and branch change 6 years ago which they still haven't delivered and the rot started at right at the top. Time to swallow their pride and get some real football professionals in, give them targets and timescales and hopefully we might see the club flourish again. Just modernise!

Then on a quiet Thursday morning, with no warning, out came the axe. 🪓 Following the same timeline from MON's last game on a Saturday, that would mean Neil being sacked on Thursday. I really hope the owners are currently putting together a list of managerial replacements as we speak, ready to wield the axe before Saturday. Thing is with Tricky being so close to AN, you couldn't trust him to keep his gob shut. Could be an interesting couple of days ahead.

This is all down to Neil. He's been given total freedom to recruit his own staff and in turn his own players. I appreciate there wasn't much of a preseason but I wonder what's happening in training and with the two International breaks, one of which he spent a week in Dubai. He has literally made his own bed and should therefore be working his bollocks off to get the squad to function. I suspect he will get the January window to recruit what he admits he missed out on and what we know we're lacking.

We recruited 18 players for heaven sake, you can't simply keep recruiting players and hope it works out. The areas where we were deficient in were glaringly obvious, please do not give him another window 👊👊

Well it's come to desperation measures. Schedule a Meet the Manager night for Weds 20th December.
We only get them when Neil isn't dragging his arse and Tricky has a new PowerPoint show.

It's not like they'll only play for Neil or they're perfectly suited to his style of play. The recruitment in the summer was actually good and we have a decent squad with lots of options. The new manager could also come in and make a couple of signings in January. We aren't under the same FFP restraints as previous seasons either.
