It will just be another complete waste of a season if AN stays in charge.
17 games in and we have such a lack of identity.
No real gameplan.
12 goals in 16 league games since the Rotherham game.
Just let that sink in. That’s horrid.
I’m sick of turgid, binary football, with a team lacking any cohesion.
Roll the dice and get rid.
I honestly can’t the believe the players are that bad. A new manager would hopefully get them playing much better.

Neil picks the team and sets them up, which is why we are where we are. Individual performances/moments won us the games. Losses down to manager, wins down to players? Sorted cheers If you have a look at his record over 14 months you will see a lot more L than W, regardless of who the players are. Sorted cheers

Annoying as I find AN , even I am going to assume Stoke training sessions look at both the offensive and defensive side of the game , but I would be interested to know what his focus is , what he concentrates on.
From the outside it looks like AN has far too much focus on stifling the opposition and not enough on winning the game .
if you are going to concentrate on stifling the opposition every week , in a league with lots of teams playing in different ways , you are not going to achieve your own style of play , your own identity .
It's going to be a huge ask , to expect your players to pass and move with speed , confidence and assurance , when you keep changing the gameplan every week to stifle a different type of opponent.

Bae assists two for Gayle and scores one. Yep, Gayle scores two goals. In fact what the heck, Gayle hat trick Gayle brings a lot to the team. He's got football intelligence, he's got nous he's clever, he links up the play, his movement creates space for others, and he leads the press. And I honestly still think he's got goals in him if it would just click one day. Happens. That's my tuppence any road and I really hope I'm not wrong And, the Alex Neil thread's back!! 😅 Ok ok I'll read the 5 new pages then 🤔 I might even join in this time 🙃 And I support support what Vidigal7 says ... ...takes time to gel. I mean it took years for Fergie get his Shit together. ....now to catch up with proceedings, and maybe come back to make a more reasoned contribution Oh dear. Havent had a very good day there have I!! I'm not going laugh, I've read the room now, I can see how pissed off everyone is. And be honest I'm a bit pissed off myself. I said I'd come back with a reasoned contribution. Well here's my effort at that. The following post made the penny drop... So if AN really is trying to do what Kingsman says, then I agree that really is a huge ask. You can do that if you've got a settled squad who know each others games inside out. If you've got a new squad that needs to gel, you've got to find your best team and stick with it, and find a style of play that suits them and stick with that, game in game out. That way you find effectiveness and consistency. Let the opposition worry about you. That's how the Lionesses won the Euros, international teams aren't that used to playing with one another and do need to gel quickly, so they kept the same team and formation and style of play for every single game of that tournament. So if AN really is trying do what Kingsman says he is, (and I think he is, I've heard AN say as much), then it's really not going to work is it, it's arse backwards, you can only do that with an established settled squad. We've got a squad that really isn't settled, they're mostly new to each other. We'd actually probably do a lot better with Serena Weigman as manager. So that's my reasoned contribution. I've changed my tune. If AN does carry on like that, then it's not going to work is it. (Sorry Vids mate)

Both teams had two weeks to prepare. Enough said. At least one did! Talks a good game and seems to know everything to know about systems, patterns of play. Is he man manager and a motivator that you’d be desperate to run through brick walls for? Is he a coach who improves players and puts on good sessions for his team? Evidence is no for me. He’d be better suited being a Chief Scout or Tactics Analyst. Anyway, we’re definitely never getting close to the play offs with him in charge so I’d be looking elsewhere now.

It would be interesting to see exactly what we did over the international break.
Listening to Robins on the radio after the Coventry game he said they would have two weeks solid training with only the weekend in middle off.
I’m not sure how much we trained but judging by some of our players instagram posts they were given the majority of the first week off.
Coventry won away 3-0 and we put in one of our most insipid performances of the season. Maybe sacrificing time on the training ground for some winter sun wasn’t the best idea.

I certainly hope it's not going to be another season wasted..I think the December batch of games will show us where we are at, if no improvement, I would be tempted to get rid before the window, I don't want another rash of signings, hoping some may succeed. 12 goals in 16 games since Rotherham is shameful.

Not giving Junior more chances after being our best player over two games is really strange to me, and persist playing a striker who can't score, can't run, can't win headers and can't hold the ball up is really more than strange!

Exactly and this goes to the very heart of the problem. We can argue about individual performances and pick our own preferred starting XI etc but if the manager/coach is not doing the right things or is incapable of improving performances on the training ground then we are obviously going to be watching insipid performances like yesterday. It's not the first time we've been played off the park this season by a well coached, drilled team, Hull City pissed all over us with a well drilled and coached performance. Neil is just incapable of getting the best out of these players and team because he simply just doesn't have the ability.

Could we please see this team against QPR!
................Bonham................. Junior.....McNally...Rose........Stevens ...............Pearson................. .......Junho............Burger.......... Campbell........Leris...........Vidigal
Leris is strong and good in the air so worth a try up front, but Wesley or Mmaee are also good alternatives, but please never play Gayle again!!!

I have always said that he should be given until Christmas with the new squad of players. Yesterday was garbage and the team looked lost. Neil has to be held accountable for tactics and team selection. Unless he picks up in the next month, he'll be sacked.

Didn't go yesterday as was at works do in Manchester. Soon as saw teamsheet was happy as saw junho starting. No Johnson, junho playing the 10 role. Yes. Oh no, Johnson still at 10, Gayle up front. Said to lads, best hope for is 0-0 as again no real cutting edge. Sooner we fook him off the better. Any side who comes to stoke just needs to be solid defensively, nick a goal and they are guaranteed a draw at least. We are fkin woeful going forward, and that is down to AN.

This manager has consistently failed when assembling his own squad. It's no surprise we get the performances and the results we have seen.
Should never ever been given the job. Hang your head in shame John Coates (AGAIN)

He is an arrogant, dour ,negative, safety first manager who doesn't have a clue how to coach footballers and who's main criteria in picking the main striker is who is best at " defending from the front " .His own words !
If he went today I'd celebrate, only to be brought back down to earth with the stark realisation that our owners will pick someone cut from the same beige cloth as its all they know. Its all they want to know .
And therein lies the real problem...

I work with a Preston fan and one of my students a couple of years ago was a big Sunderland fan. When we appointed AN they both said that a fundamental part of his approach was finding unique ways of stifling the opposition each game. I have no problem with that. However, you also need to impart your own identity and style of play onto the game. If you spend too long worrying about the opposition then you lose sight of what you are yourself.

He has scored a couple of decent goals and athletically (speed, power, work rate, etc.) he is great. However, technically and on the ball he is really erratic. I am not sure that he is a winger.
