I am feel strangely optimistic going into the weekend. The international break will have given us another couple of weeks on the training pitch and time for some of the lads to recover from injuries. AN needs a big week. Two (more) home defeats in five days might be enough to push him beyond the point of no return. Four points would help to steady the ship. There are three really tough fixtures coming at us in quick succession though. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that we might be cemented in the bottom three in eight days time. Hopefully we kick off with a good performance tomorrow! 9 points. Correct.

I’ve criticised Neil plenty but more than happy to eat some humble pie. We’ve just beaten 3 of the best sides in the division for my money, certainly 3 potential top 6 sides. Today was easily our best performance of the season carrying on from our second best. Tough game up next but confidence must be high

Why will we be disappointed? We've won, I want Neil to be a success. The criticism he's received has been totally justified in my opinion. Exactly this. I want him to be a success but he has made poor decisions thus far and therefore should be open to criticism Stop bloody moaning you tarts.

Do we have to go through this I told you so bollocks at the end of every game? You shouldn't have to apologise for having a fluid opinion of a manager who before this week had an absolute dog shit record. Another thick un. You haven't take injuries into account, that's because it doesn't suit your agenda. How pleasant. I wouldn't have put a fiver on us winning one of these games this week, let alone all three. He deserves as much credit as he was getting criticism for the losses to Hull, Preston etc etc.

Ok so it’s the end of October. Many wanted AN sacked a few weeks ago. What are we thinking now. For me the end of October seemed a reasonable time to judge. Verdict: ok. Things seem to be slowly turning. Happy for AN to stay in place. Anyone still want him out? A weeks a long time in football hey. For me it wasn’t really even a case of ‘wanting’ him to be fired, it was just a surprise to see him survive what was a Jones-esque start to the season. Unless something goes spectacularly wrong between now and January 1st it’s hard to see him not be in charge until we reach that point. I have to say, after watching 2 of our last 3 managers blow up at the first sign of pressure it’s nice to see someone just keep calm and carry on! Sensible post. I wanted him gone after Leicester and tbh our record under him has been horrendous. We had a purple patch last season and went backwards again. He’s here till Jan at least now, and I’m just hoping I can get to more away games where we win, they’re superb. Swansea and Sunderland were fantastic

our starting XI was questionable, our tactics were the same as always, and our subs 15 minutes late but the work rate was there so maybe it’s just a matter of effort Questionable only because we don’t know what the fitness data was saying in Maaee, Burger and Vidigal, the other 8 players were 100 percent the right picks based on the last two games. As it turns out AN was spot on

🤣 I say this everytime. It started out as barely humourous and recently was about as funny as a wart on your arse, but after about 7 years of trying it I've finally got one right!

A touch of the Benitez style today!
Dropped players to keep them hungry. Rested players so as not to overtire them and risk injury. Brought in fringe players to keep them motivated, try hard to impress, and keep them from going stale.
It worked.
I've said all along to give him till December with a new squad. It took Hughes till November to get winning regularly and he started with a settled Pulis squad that needed changing.
Neil has had a tough start to the season with new players (he didn't get all he wanted), tough opening programme against many of the best teams, and numerous injuries. There is now cause for optimism but we shouldn't expect too much too soon, there will be slip-ups.

Posted this on the match thread, but it bears repeating. The result and performance show he got things spot on today. I criticise him when I think he could have done better and am very happy to praise when he gets things right.
9 out of 10 for me today; i can’t remember giving a 10 since relegation!

We've had three games in eight days and neither of them have played a single minute. Can't say I understand AN's thinking here to be honest?

Yeah this has me head scratching and would have drawn so much criticism if results had not been favourable. They have so I think he made the right decision, but we know how quickly that can turn. Not playing those 2 after being the better players in the last month has been unusual and I can't really think why unless it's a trust/style of play/tactical decision. Probably trust tho

Glad we’re winning, it’s a likeable squad. I just…don’t like Neil. At my most critical I could say the team are winning in spite of him not because of him, but who knows. He could take us up and I don’t think I could warm to him, just seems sour. Still, I support Stoke so the 9 points are excellent.
