He better be as good as he is confident then and he’ll play, I imagine he won't be happy when he's on the bench behind DJ for the first few games. Hope he walks the walk. Really excited by this anyway, he's clearly ambitious. Depends how he adapts I guess and how good he actually is. If he comes in like Burger he might start on the bench first game but then will be one of the first names on the team sheet there afterwards

Funny that his agents company is called 'Root One'.
A small tribute to Tony Pulis perhaps?

My daughter has taken it upon herself to learn Korean, for reasons of K-Pop. She tells me that the Jun part of his name should be pronounced to rhyme with Moon. That's my contribution to this thread.

Well, he made it to the airport. www.starnewskorea.com/stview.php?no=2023082814301129510&pDepth=news&pDepth1=sports&pDepth2=soccer2'Son of Daejeon' leaves Korea to transfer to Stoke City "The moment I've always dreamed of.. The ultimate goal is to advance to the big leagues" Bae Jun-ho is about to move to Stoke City, which belongs to the English Championship (second division). Stoke City are currently in the Second Division, but were once in the English Premier League (EPL). They are considered one of the most likely teams to win promotion this season. Bae Jun-ho had an interview at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 on the 28th. He said "It's a moment I always dreamed of, but I wanted to go. I wanted to go to Europe. The ultimate goal is to advance to the big leagues. I am still excited,” he said. When asked why he chose Stoke City, he said, “It’s a club where I can play right away, and they actively wanted me. (Playing style) has changed a lot from before. I thought it was definitely a good team. I think I just need to adapt well,” he explained. Bae Jun-ho's agent, Root One CEO Lim Se-jin, said, "Stoke City has undergone a major rebuild since the appointment of a manager. Last season, there were only about three starters left. They needed a creative player, and Bae Jun-ho was offered by Stoke City.” Bae Jun-ho, who we met at Incheon International Airport on the 28th, said, "I have always dreamed of playing on the European stage. (Stoke City) thinks it is a 'step' to the final goal. The final goal is to play in the big leagues or big clubs." www.yna.co.kr/view/AKR20230828044700007?input=twIn addition to Stoke City, Torino (Italy) is known to have made an official offer. Several big clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, Arsenal (above England), and Ajax (Netherlands) are also reported to have shown interest. However, Bae Jun-ho chose Stoke City, where he most desperately wanted him and seemed likely to play as the starting player "I wanted to go straight to a club where I could play. Stoke City actively wanted me, so I chose them," he said. "I heard that it has changed a lot from before. I also watched a few games and felt that it was a good team. If I adapt well, I think I can fit in well." “I can play both side and attacking midfielders, but Stoke City seems to be trying to use me as an attacking midfielder.Looking back on the past year or so, Bae Jun-ho said, "It was a time when many things changed and experienced a lot in my life. Thanks to that, such a good opportunity came." On this day, the Daejeon front desk directly came out to the airport and supervised the press conference for Bae Jun-ho's departure. It is a very rare sight. Usually, the player's agent does this. A Daejeon employee explained, "Bae Jun-ho is a very important player to our club, so I took care of him myself." The lad clearly thinks he's going to walk into the team. Seems to have been agreed!

www.ytn.co.kr/_ln/0107_202308281732233283Bae Jun-ho, who chose Stoke City with the greatest potential to play as a starter, announced his goal of raising more than 10 attack points in his first year. "I chose Stoke City because they seemed to want me most, and the head coach knows (me) and has sent a lot of support, so I feel stronger and I think I have to do better" "First of all, looking at the overall style of the league, the physical is excellent. So I think we should focus on supplementing that part." "But at the same time, I think I should not lose my own strengths," he said.

Interesting that he seems to have been told he’ll be in the first team. I suppose if the fee of 2 million is to be believed then he clearly will be at least a bench player pretty much from the off. He definitely seems to have the creative spark we’ve been missing bar the odd Powell performance for years. I can imagine him starting on the bench but then usurping Johnson relatively soon if things go to plan.
