I said at the time I thought we’d sign some good players and the fact that in January we at least recruited to the system we wanted to play spoke to that likelihood. People absolutely were knicker wetting, from calling us ‘Little Preston’ to crying because we hadn’t signed anything that moved by the end of May.
It could go tits up still of course but some are being very disingenuous to suggest they weren’t whining. The posts mocking us for saying we had a decent budget sure quietened down didn’t they?

No one was knicker wetting. And that’s all that needs to be said on matter after the onlookers post. Johnson and Laurent should be nowhere near this side btw. Johnson on the bench. Laurent will hopefully cry about going back south and be fucked off sharpish. You keep harping on about people making up shit, yet you are claiming people weren't knicker wetting... Just go back and read the transfer thread between 15th of June and 15th July. There were loads saying we won't sign anyone and relegation looms, there were suggestions of resigning clucas in desperation. All very pathetic, but pretty normal behaviour from certain folk, you included. They weren’t. As onlooker has said it was valid concerns about a club that to that point had not shown an ounce of knowing how the fuck how to run a football club with a mammoth task ahead of them. Find where I’ve said any of that 🤣🤣🤦♂️

I mean they were, you just have to read the thread. They weren’t. They were justified concerns based on the evidence we had the time. Yep, if anyone says they weren't worried they are nothing but a liar. They've queued around the block for years to slate their transfer policy that ended in the club having to sell the stadium to itself to survive a FFP sanction last year. Once you're past that you're on a very simple sliding scale, between being openly very worried to being quiet until something decent happens. The most important thing here is not being right or wrong on the internet but the club finally putting things right and putting down some serious roots of recovery, and in this case, going so far down a road that none of us thought possible as little as 12 months ago.

Hate going off topic on threads but I think most know it's not as simple as, hi I'm stoke city manager and want one of your players, okay we'll send him round tomorrow to sign then we'll iron the rest after.

The club did a PR job to ease the concern. Some people just love to mard arse

The point is, things are looking positive finally, and yet even when praising the club, you can't help but drive on with the negativity. It's tiresome.

Returning to topic, this is in my opinion, an excellent piece of business. Not only does he look the part, has loads of potential etc but he represents something we have never capitalised on before (mild attempt with sobhi) and it is cracking a huge market that could improve our global image and increase revenue streams.
This sort of deal is what Brighton are doing. 2m could very quickly become 32m, without trying to exaggerate.
Really looking forward to it, trusting that it happens.

The wind of change throughout the club has been obvious for twelve months for those willing to see. I have at no point this pre season been worried and I take offence to being called a liar.

The wind of change throughout the club has been obvious for twelve months for those willing to see. I have at no point this pre season been worried and I take offence to being called a liar. It certainly has but I detected a lot of residual cynicism from a lot of people around our transfers, certainly from those honest enough to say though. I can't have the level of criticism aimed at the club since 2017/18 suddenly disappearing into thin air and being replaced with "see, I told you everything would be alright guv" now we seem to be adopting a stripped down version of Brighton's model that has come out of nowhere. Now that IS disingenuous. Like I keep saying though, it's just really good that we're finally on a path down that road. It should put down some roots and hopefully box off that part of the debate for a long time, where now we can hopefully debate the merits of the players brought in on a positive slant rather than looking through our fingers at how old they are and how expensive they are, and whether they can still do a job at this level or not. For the first time in a long time I'm very excited.

I dont know what the fuss is, nearly all championship clubs usually bring in over a dozen players every Summer. It's normal.
